Still beautiful but it was impossible to market and quite difficult to wear. Women in the 00´s were too body-conscious for this kind of challenging silhouettes.
But this is a great laboratory of ideas. I hope we’ll see a glimpse of this brilliance at Azzaro.

A bit stuffy no? Particularly all those looks in black wool, they are wonderful to look at from the back but the front is wide and unflattering, then again the challenge to take on Cristóbal Balenciaga, at such a young age and for his debut, reminds me of his huge ambition.

He relied too heavily on the past this time around but he did manage to translate many of these ideas succesfully in the following seasons. Amazing use of color from the very start though.

A difficult collection, yes, but I will always love it for its earnestness. This is so clearly the work of a dreamer.

It’s so personal it almost breaks your heart...it’s as sensitive and shy and romantic and mysterious and beautiful as its creator.

❤️ I was lucky enough to see Stella’s white dress up close in the Olivier Theyskens exhibition two years ago in Antwerp. I got quite emotional when I saw it. It took me back to that time when I was young and just started to get into fashion and magazines and everything felt new and fresh. It’s such a beautiful dress and the entire collection is quite special to me.
