Rolling Stone March 2022 : Jennifer Lopez by Chrisean Rose

That hairstyle ruins her face, but these photos are good portraits.

Few magazine depress me more than Rolling Stone. I still remember their fun, "mildly" iconic covers (using David LaChapelle, Annie Leibovitz, etc.). I used to process magazines at one of my previous jobs and just seeing their modern-day dullness is almost sad.

Anyway, Jennifer does look good. I just wish the cover had a bit more bite.

I think 2000s singers and bands are so differents from the 70s, 80s, and 90s musicians. They have great style (J-Lo is a Goodess) but they're iconic for the Millenials generation. Don't kill me for what I say here, I'm not a fan of Britney or Backstreet Boys, but they have a really cool image. I see them more as style icon than music legends. They made it in a time when tecnology/PCs replaces instruments, and the voice can be not remarkable. Critics called this era of pre fabricated pop-stars. But don't get my wrong. I liked a lot the later careers of Christina, Justin Timberlake and P!nk. Britney and J-Lo are fun to heard in a good way. It's music for dancefloor, but still, far from disco divas or synth pop artists. I'm too Gen X, even I have 30 now, but I like that time the most. It was different before the digital era, same effect in media.

Oh yeah, even Britney and the Backstreet Boys had decent Rolling Stone covers. That's what I meant, there's just no vision to Rolling Stone these days (and hasn't been for god knows how long).

Jlo looks good for her age but I wish they had done something different for her.
