i think this is a collaboration romain did with boutique extraordinaire maria luisa. he did his presentation in the form of a concept vitrine for the boutique as well. really stupendous. i love the pieces that have the braces, and the white pieces with the lovely drapes and there's a great structure t'shirt in the middle with a pocket on the stomach area that i adore as well.

I adore that white hoodie with all of the pockets in the middle. As well as the lavender colored jacket to the left. Very interesting collection and ideas! Thanks Scott

you're both very welcome! i've been looking forward to this since i saw the window on diane's blog.

Call me old-fashioned, but day-glow colors like this immediately turn me off..especially in menswear.

^ agreed.

It's basically neon tshirts and heavy 80s influence...the 80s are so dead.

anyone can take influence from the 80's, and he does it really well

this is excellent ^_^ thanks

the-smiths,so what you are saying is,overlooking everything else about the collection, merely because it's got shots of flourescent colour,it's completely 80's? i don't see anything 80's influenced about it apart from the colour. and even in that, the way he used the colours doesn't scream that at all. it's completely refreshing to me. far more original, especially in the context that he is doing this kind of work in menswear.

i really think romain is the most exciting thing to come about(apart from kanya)since henrik. his collections are imaginative, romantic and innovative.

^ Well said, fluoro colours are getting such a bashing since that obscenely ubiquitous trend last Summer. A palette, such as the one in this collection, ventures outside the stuffy boundaries of menswear and that's commendable, :flower:

Thanks muchly for posting Scott

Gah. I always hate the colors he uses, so those are no surprise, but I don't like any of this at all...he usually has some new shapes, but these are all pretty t-shirty/suspender-y.

Looks like he was inspired by the London club kid thing going on..a big change from his earlier collections of space inspiration...can anyone say Boombox?

As If

It's not like everything crazy and/or outrageous is Boombox. This guy is as French as hell. Boombox is so last season. :P

And the 80's are so not dead btw. As long as N. Ghesquiere does Balenciaga, 80s is NOT dead.

this isn't directed at anyone really (just wanted to say this because it annoys me), but why do the people you associate with the clothes have influence on whether you like the clothes or not? boombox kids might wear it, so what.

well, just do correct you all, there is a massive new-rave scene in paris just now, I assume Romain is part of it judging by this collection...can anyone say, 'Ed-Banger records'...anyway...

regardless of the colour palette, the execution of the collection is just awful...

infact, it's so bad, it's worse than the majority of stuff Seven has under its fast-fashion section, which speaks volumes.

I'm very dissapointed considering what he's previously come up with, he made his name off the back of previous collections & this is two steps back.

he has surcome to the new-age youth influence, i mean, what does this collection consist of?

a few cotton t-shirts, with some disastrous prints you could expect to stumble on throughout a 5 year-olds crayon book....

anyway....

a few cotton t'shirts with a few prints is not how i would describe it. these are NOT basic t'shirts. at least he's doing something a bit more interesting with them compared with the vast majority of labels who only work with the basic shape of 't' with just prints. here he's actually used some technique....volumes,materials,and real detail.

and excusee....why the bashing of seven and fast fashion? i don't get that connection at all. and anyway,i certainly wouldn't call natalia brilli or mouton collet the worst.

it's fun, i'd wear it, i don't know about showing my nipples though...maybe if i were in paris, i'd let the boys out.

I was referring to Skyward, To-Orist, Bender, Hood by Air etc in that fast fashion section...

as well, it's slightly rediculous to compare this line to Natalia Brilli or Jean-pierre Braganza....

anyway...

If you want to champion innovative re-construction of tee's & hood's... look no further than Telfar...

I stand by my original assessment of this current collection from Romain, but fashion is ofcourse a matter of opinion.
