Rose Byrne

That dress makes her look pregnant, which would be amazing, but I'm sure it's just the way it was photographed. They make the cutest couple.

I love how they make her look her age not airbrushed to oblivion.
Good work Oroton.

And Rose you look beautiful. Again. As always.

Rose Byrne and Lisa McCune will tread the boards at Sydney Theatre Company next year as Cate Blanchett exits stage right.

Artistic director Andrew Upton last night unveiled STC’s 2016 season, which will begin just as he and wife Blanchett depart the harbour city for the US.

Byrne will star in David Mamet’s brutal Hollywood satire Speed-the-Plow, in a role first played by Madonna. McCune appears* in Machu Picchu, a drama about two couples by Sue Smith.

It is the first time the actresses have appeared with STC in a decade or more.

The first part of the year has a trio of proven productions — including the West End hit King Charles III — as the company begins the transition to new artistic director Jonathan Church, from England’s Chichester Festival Theatre. The season features a revival of STC’s lauded adaptation of The Secret River and innovative English company 1927’s Golem.

Blanchett is not part of the 2016 season; her current role, in The Present, ends later this month.

But Upton will return* late next year as the adaptor of the Georges Feydeau farce A Flea in Her Ear and director of Speed-the-Plow.

He said Mamet’s play about sharks in the film industry relied on three characters meeting as equals. “It’s the two men, and you need the woman to be able to match them if not top them,” he said. “It was great to get Rose to do it, she’s perfect for the role.”

Two Australian plays are about people missing in the wilderness: Louis Nowra’s 1985 drama The Golden Age, and Angela Betzien’s The Hanging, with reference to Picnic at Hanging Rock. Among the new productions are Tom Stoppard’s Arcadia, Arthur Miller’s All My Sons and Pulitzer prize-winner Disgraced, by Ayad Akhtar.

Unless her character is pregnant in this movie, or I need new glasses (I am overdue for my check-up), she definitely looks pregnant.
