Her real name is Rosa Perez. There's a feature on her on TheImagist.com, an interview with Paul Rowland. It's...peculiar, to say the least. He refers to her as a "dominican mami" with an "african father and a spanish mother". Hard to find some actual African-born people in Santo Domingo. And "Spanish"? Really? but OK. God knows what he means, probably that she's half Black and half not Black, who knows, it needs to be translated from stereotype-talk into English.

I agree with you in that; you kind of get the sense that he doesn't know what he's talking about. And like you said, it's very difficult to find African born people in Sto. Dgo., let alone the rest of the country... I'm just hoping they don't market her as a "Dominican mami" like Paul views her.
