Delfine Bafort. She’s the Belgium-born beauty with a deep voice and heavy French diction. The Girl in a Chemise for Dazed & Confused, Bafort has tripped the Land of the Fairy for V Magazine, campaigned for Balenciaga, and walked for the likes of Lanvin. Standing at “one-metre, seventy-seven-and-a-half… or seventy-eight”, her casting video proved worthy of the Ford blog. “Nice to meet you, and hi,” she says, straight to camera. On the big screen, she skipped the beats of love in Felix van Groeningen’s Steve +Sky and starred in Vincent Gallo’s Promises Written in Water opposite Sage Moonlight Stallone.
Who are you style influences and why?
Everything except the 80s and 90s. You will not find me in a rock and punk outfit.
What makes for an interesting dynamic? A good team?
Impassioned and talented people who aren't afraid of a sparkle of light and humour.
Who inspires you?
David Lynch and Lars Von Trier, Samuel Beckett and Arthur Miller, Frida Kahlo and Dorothea Lange, BAM Theatre and the Brooklyn Bridge Park, Manhattan and squirrels, Ford Models, my school The Royal Academy in Ghent (KASK), my friends, family and my ex-boyfriend Gabriel…
What has been your favourite collaboration in life so far?
Working with Vincent Gallo for the film Promises Written in Water, with Felix Van Groeningen for the film Steve + Sky, and with Johan Grimonprez for his short film Looking For Alfred.
What are you currently obsessed with?
My cat, jogging and dancing.
What do you remember most from your childhood?
My sisters, my two great protectors. We were always together like a clan; during the nights we would sneak into each other’s rooms and stay up late to talk and laugh and do silly things.
If you had your time over, would you do anything differently?
More passion, less compulsive thoughts.
