Name: Ryan Barrett
Age: 26
Hometown: Ipswich
3 Likes: I love being in the water, scuba diving, and my uncle’s fish & chip shop back home.
3 Dislikes: Traffic, flying, rush hour

If you could have a super power what would it be? To fly or see through walls.
Who’s your favorite superhero? Iron Man
So how was shooting the Versace Spring Summer 2012 campaign? It was pretty special, especially to do a solo campaign with a supermodel. I love Donatella and the whole Versace team. David Bradshaw is a really nice guy and super good at his job.
David Gandy has gone on the record saying he finds Gisele Bündchen hard to work with, how did you find working with her? She was interesting, she has a lot of power and has been in the industry for a long time she doesn’t beat around the bush – if she wants to say something she will!
Did you get recognized on the streets after the campaign? I get recognised by fashion people every once in a while, but no one else.
So as a practicing photographer who’s work do you admire? Tim Walker is amazing - the sets and the creativity. I would love to start building big sets. Modeling and working with so many great photographers is like free photography school. For example working with Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott on the Versace I got to see techniques and methods most people would never see.
Would you like to photograph any model? No not really, for me it’s more about the imagery and how you bring out there best quality. Photography is more of a serious hobby than a hard-core career.
So you also work as a print designer as well? Yes, I graduated from Goldsmith’s University I did fine arts textiles, then I got head hunted from Westcott Design and soon will be starting my own business.
Where do you get your design inspiration from? Everywhere, I’m one of those designers that likes to work with a lot of textures and animal skins so I will literally walk down the street and take photos of interesting textures with my i-Phone. We also try to follow the runway trends as well.
Getting to see designs before the rest of the world must be a big help. It can be, last season with Versace I worked with the team from concept to finish so seeing the whole design process was amazing. We design women’s prints so I can’t take too much inspiration from the menswear. I would like to design something I can wear one day.
What do you think of when walking down the runway? Zoolander face and don’t trip! [laughs] No, it really all depends on the show. I will try and look around to see who is there and if it’s a busy show.
As a Zoolander fan what is the dumbest think you’ve ever heard a model say? Trying to think, these been quite a few…
