A photograph of the street taken from the window of her Chinatown studio was the starting point for Sally LaPointe’s sharp pre-fall collection, which she said was “all about a fleeting moment.” Drawing color references from the image — mostly black and gray with pops of olive, yellow and powder blue — the designer revisited some of her best-selling pieces, including a techno-jersey dress with a peplum effect, which she updated with silver hardware detailing.
Elsewhere, fox, rabbit and pony fur accents added a luxurious edge to sweaters and outerwear. LaPointe printed a heather gray texture onto a silk gazar floor-length skirt, providing her girl — dubbed “the dark beauty” — with a cool alternative for evening.
