I think it can look pretty (as an accent or gathered or draped well) but generally I also feel it's too prom-ish and has a tendency to look very cheap unless it's a heavy satin.

The satin shoes are gorgeous but not very practical for daily wear. And I love the headband.
Living in a tropical country it's hard to wear satin ... it's kind of sticks to you at the slightest bit of sweat....

p/s: I keep tying "stain" instead of satin

I have a love / hate relationship with satin. Also the same as a previous poster live in the tropics - so it's difficult. But think I might accent with some sleeveless shirt/tops which allow the drape to come through. But I love love love chinese silk satin....

nice thread, I love to wear satin top under a jacket and with patent leather heels. Satin ballerinas are beautiful too.

Digging the satin pumps; shirts and maybe a dress are okay, but satin pants are a definite no-no for me I'd feel like I'm wearing my grandma's underwear, ugh.

Love the fabric. Love everything about it! But true, I own some pairs of satin shoes and they get dirty easily, especially if they're of light colors.
And hard + difficult, I have a creamy satin ballet flat that I use a lot.
