scoliosis interefering with your height

Hey guys. Theres a really great book i got from the local library, which has some very useful and helpful ideas and tips. Its called 'Posture, get it straight' and its by Janice Novak. The exercises really seem to make a difference very quickly.

I have scoliosis. It didnt get noticed until I was about 15 (I'm 19 now) and I'd already stopped growing. My curve is about 48 degrees. (I've never been told what the actual upper/lower degrees are) But I'm also twisted 'around' as well. (I can't explain it, but as well as one of my shoulders being lower than the other, one half of my rib cage is more forward than the other)

it's_happening - I get pain around my right shoulderblade when I sit and type or use the computer (which is a lot considering I study Multimedia Design). I'm not sure if this is caused by my Scoliosis.

Does anyone else have A LOT of trouble sleeping and getting comfortable in bed?

^ya i have trouble.
How can it be proven that you stopped growing at that age? what instruments did they use to prove that? If your feet and nails still grow, why would your height not?

They could tell by my inital xrays that the growth plates in my hips had closed up or something.

I don't really know that much about scoliosis. I've kinda just been put in the akward, borderline needing surgery quotent where surgery isn't absolutely necessary at the moment but I can have it if I want.

I'm 16 and i dicovered i have mild scoliosis last year...mine is 10 degrees to the right at the top and 14 degrees to the left at the bottom....i used to think only i had this problem and i hated the fact that i had an 'uneven' figure...especially since teens in my school wear nice snug tops and i can't...thanks for putting up this (thingy?)..made me realise that my curvature wasn't that bad...

Well I know two people with scoliosis. One is 6ft and the other is like 5ft something. Very tall and very short. However, the former's father is 6ft6" and she, her mother and grandmother are all models. The latters family are all really tiny. So I think it is genetics. However I remember model girl had a scoliosis related operation or something on her to correct the difference in her leg length and this stopped her from growing even taller.

well, the doctor told me it was genetics or like born with it...my case doesn't fit into either..does modeling require a straight backbone?

one word...ROLFING. it's a deep massage technique and can fix or at least improve most cases of scoliosis.
