Sharon Wauchob Fall 2005 Paris

Nice to see her ease up a little bit on the Balenciaga referencing. But that pearls idea in picture 3 seems ripped almost directly from Helmut Lang. I like her aesthetic but wish she'd work to find her own voice. I'm sure it could be just as strong as the designers whose work she routinely takes 'inspiration' from.

I really like this. It is reminiscent of other designers, but still has it's own twist on things.

i definitely see the balenciaga and helmut lang in her work, but i quite like it nonetheless. she's got a great vision, and those jackets are superb.

excuses m.o.m but its the other way round..
Nicolas has been ripping off Sharon for ages (as a matter of fact.. he's been doing the same with Mark Le Bihan's work), if you track down her older collections you will clearly see this..

I love love love this, the pearls are in Paris, and Paris is the oyster.

i love the aesthetic of this, though not every single piece.

You've brought that up before Lena but honestly I find it hard to believe. I'm not sure about Mark Le Bihan's work and I don't doubt that Nicolas would lift ideas from others, but as far as Sharon goes, she copies Balenciaga season after season without fail. If Balenciaga has an idea for spring, she'll be sure to do it for fall. It's just so close that I don't think there's any other explanation for it. Unless Sharon is secretly working for Balenciaga!

if you think so m.o.m.... i wont agrue anyway

really, her collections speak for themselves
a-she's been around much earlier than Nicolas anyway
b-she's been always walking on the same path for years before N.G. even came out.

i have a big respect for S.W. work, like so many others who've been following her for years.
in anycase, N.G. is well known for 'getting inspired' by other's work.. Sharon has been always banging her own drum and she's been hugely 'directional'

problem is that some designers simply get ripped off by the more 'famous' houses, of course people know Balenciaga but how many know S.W...

A lot of nice pieces here. Remindes me a bit of John Rocha's work...

Thanks for the photos.

Well,Nicolas had a much different look in the earlier seasons at Balenciaga and following Sharon's work since she started yes this has been her way of working for a while, now.

For arguement's sake, however, one similarity that really sticks out quite obviously is Ann Demeulemeester. In fact, more so than Balenciaga.

I was thinking that, as well.

I'm not the only that notices it, and people that are very much ensconced within Paris fashion think the same thing. It's less apparent in this show but in her past collections the resemblance is almost shocking. If Nicolas is copying her, then why does she continually do his looks one season later? You'd think she'd be setting the bar. Like Scott said, this is a good show, but a pretty shameless mishmash of Demeuelemeester and Balenciaga.

Anyway, you only need to look at the fall 2005 shows of Wauchob and Nicolas to see who the more mature, accomplished designer is.

Not the most original collection, but a good one nonetheless. I would love to wear a lot of those pieces.

She's onto a good thing you know......

Why are designers like Sharon Wauchob still unheard of, when all of us believe in design, innovation, talent and creativity, why do we follow so willingly the big companies? A bag company pays a famous singer / actor for the advertising, why does this make the product better. We need to stop living in the big companies fantasy world and start living in design, innovation and talent.

So why are designers like Sharon Wauchob still unheard of?

great 'commercial' collection by Sharon who stays true to her own style

Well, fact is, at tfs also the relatively unknown designers are discussed and much appreciated. Sharon Wauchob is amazing, a very creative designer who definitly gets a high ranking in my book.
