Sharon Wauchob S/S 2022 London

Light on ideas but I do like her use of draping and gathering in the champagne and white ensemble, the single-shoulder white dress and that skirt on look 2...I wish she'd have expanded on those ones.

Totally underrated designer - maybe by her own choice (and I imagine showing in London serves her no favour, especially at the moment).
But I was thinking, wouldn't it be amazing if someone like Alberta Ferretti called her to save her brand from the depth of generic-ness her designs have slipped into?

Lots of lovely pieces as usual.

I miss her shows too and Paris definitely made her collections seem more.. competitive, but at the same time, there's some calmness and confidence about her work in London that just makes it seem like a different, more mature stage in her career that I equally enjoy. Most of the designers in her generation are either gone or not independent, so for her to be showing in whatever scale or format she can afford or is most comfortable with, that's totally fine with me and much more admiring than seeing her go corporate and wasting her ideas to build someone else's vision.

Would love to see her at a more high-profile name for sure— as long she’s able to keep the collection concentrated to her restrained sensibility and not bloated to 50+ looks on a generic cast of headcount. She’s all about a quiet, individual confidence and when pressured to conform to the times (and such gormless times we’re in), her sensibility would suffer. Frankly, her name as a brand is the least attractive component: Some designers are better off with a title like Band of Outsiders etc. “Sharon” just makes me think of that annoying Ozbourne woman.

The slip-dresses look unfinished somehow— or maybe just too local dressmaker and not up to the standard of her brand of intimate structure. But aside from that, she’s so restrained and clear about her direction that it feels genuinely as if she’s designing a single wardrobe for a single woman for that Season: The feathery slip-top with the sheer full pants— or the asymmetric draped ivory top with men’s pants is just so simple, quiet, effortless and still dramatic. Not the stronger of her usual offerings, but if I were a woman, I’d pick up a few pieces, including the afore mentioned looks (…maybe not the sheer full pants but full pants.)

The reason why I thought of someone like Alberta Ferretti, of all names, is because it could give SW major visibility while working for a brand that I would hardly call corporate (but then we should probably agree on what we define by "corporate": for your average London designer, any brand with more of 20 employees is corporate...). AF's image (as she honed it in the late '90's and early '00's) is quite resonant with SW's sensibility, plus they both skilled factories and a demi-couture atelier, which could be a very good occasion for Wauchob's to up her game.

probably one of the best original and independent designers these days that actually `design` and not producing `streetwear-inspired` clothes. The first pink ensemble is beautiful.

People like this should be helming Dior or Fendi or Givenchy if you ask me.

beautiful collection indeed. just a couple of questionable looks but mostly due to the way they are styled (but this a very personal remark).

any brand would be wining to have her and had Raf not sank Calvin Klein, she would be perfect for them.
