Shops as Showrooms

I wanted to know that with the rise of online/mobile shopping and with stores on the high street continuing to close down, do you think that fashion brands would benefit from having their shops turn into showrooms where shoppers can visit, try and and then order online or in store?

This is already happening, right? I think what you're talking about is called a trunk show, but many stores and boutiques don't necessarily stock a full size run. When Barney's was here, only at the very beginning of the season could I buy anything from the floor. Otherwise, and sometimes even then, I had to order what I wanted--more often than not from Chicago.

Well I live in London and don't see much of it happening here. But what I really want to know is do you think that this is a better/more effective way to shop and do you think that this will grow in the future?
