Yes, most men would look silly wearing an unpadded suit. That's why Armani looks so cack.

I cut the shoulder pads out of everything, they just look ridiculous.

Thanks. It is a vintage houndstooth jacket and I have been wanting to rip out the shoulderpads since I got it but I wanted to be sure I wouldn't regret it.

Yes. But I've seen them mostly in women's business suits. I take the jackets to a tailor to get them removed because they are inside the lining.

I wonder if it's just so the garmet will have more 'structure' when on the rack (or maybe it's an option for shoulder-less people?).

Shoulder pads look ridiculous in clothes when I wear them, especially when I have to raise your arms!

partly to spite people who hate them and partly cause they look good and I'm young and can get away with it damnit.

I have this vintage pink velvet jacket that's seriousely cool with major shoulder pads.

i have always thought shoulder pads would be good for people who have narrow shoulders? i haven't worn garments with shoulder pads yet but i i am quite surprise to know that shoulder pads are so hated by everyone. hmm...what actually happens when you raise your arms?

even most new jackets have little shoulder pads because it gives more shape to your shoulders and the fabric doesn't fall as nicely without them.

I'm having an 80s obsession at the moment and I was thinking of getting something with big shoulder pads..

I've got a great 80's small-print houndstooth dress that used to be my mams...complete with big shoulder pads...and kind of batwing sleeves...going into a 'pencil' style skirt. I'll wear it one day all hail shoulder pads.

Saying that I wouldn't generally buy stuff with them in, but they look good with some stuff.

Granted, I do think some men's suits should definately have shoulder pads because they do help give shape and form and they have a more tailored look, but those pads should not be huge! So, that said, oh my God! Zoot suits should be outlawed! What about these?
