vogueSpecial Edition “Americans in China” Model Wall: Shu Pei
On Friday, Chinese models will walk in a massive runway show at the Ming Dynasty City Wall Relics Park for Proenza Schouler, Rag & Bone, and Marchesa. Vogue asked a few of them to share their favorite hometown spots. And while they don’t agree on everything (i.e., where to shop), on one point, they’re unanimous: It’s all about authentic Chinese hotpot.
Age: 24
Hometown: Henan Province
Favorite city in China:
Kaifeng, where I was born and raised. My family lives there. And Shanghai is like my second home; most of my friends are there.
Favorite place to shop: I love some small but cute stores around Julu Road and South Shaanxi Road in Shanghai. You can get very nice clothes and accessories at very fair prices.
Favorite restaurant for traditional Chinese food:
I love Hai Di Lao, the most famous hotpot chain in China. The service is amazing.
Favorite thing to do:
In Shanghai I just hang around Xintiandi, which is the center of downtown. I love having afternoon tea with friends on a cozy weekend and watching everyone pass by. You see quite a lot well-dressed people around there.
Long-distance travel look:
The most comfortable clothes , like a very loose hoodie and pants.
