Wouldn't compare Shu Qi and Gong Li since there's over a decade's age difference between them. Seems a bit unfair. Shu Qi is very beautiful although I haven't been blown away by her acting as much as Gong Li so it kind of evens out in terms of personal preference.

^ I agree with that. Gong Li is much older than Shu Qi, so it is kind of unfair to compare them now. They're both very beautiful, though. (If you've seen Gong Li when she was first starting out with movies, like in "Raise the Red Lantern," she is absolutely STUNNING. Even in "Memoirs of A Geisha", she looks incredible.)

I love the summery photoshoot that fashionjunkie posted; thanks for posting! She has really attractive eyes! they're almost feline...and very sexy.

I highly recommend that movie she won the Golden Horse (Taiwan's equivalent of an Oscar), "Three Times." She's stunning in it and acts very well. And this is coming from someone who always thought she was just a (very) pretty face. I've changed my mind since, lol.

Yeah, I've heard really wonderful things about Three Times. It looks like it's a beautifully filmed, introspective kind of movie, so I'll definitely look out for it xtine888. I think Chang Chen is also in it? The actor who played sexyMongolian gypsy/nomad/warlord in Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon? My shallow sensibilities would track the movie down based purely on the unadulterated phwoar-factor of that one performance alone.

It's really great to see Asian actresses get the opportunity to actually show their acting skills in interesting, well developed roles though. And not just as token love interest #2. I think that was the main quibble I had against the lone Shu Qi role I've seen, the one from Beijing Rocks (it was on late night television once) - the role was just too boring and cliche for me to really see past its contrivance to her performance. So yeah, I'm glad she's getting a chance to really pad out her filmography and expand her future choices. After all, I suppose if I had only seen 1 movie of Gong Li's at the very start of her career, I wouldn't be so far in awe of the woman as I am now.

Yeah, despite the beautiful cinematography, Beijing Rocks was cliche ridden and not very sophisticated. Three Times and Milennium Mambo are exquisite pieces of filmmaking and SQ proves herself to be a remarkable actress (besides having a smile that is so beautiful, you could weep...)
