the rich are just as important to the world as menial laborers, and possibly moreso. whio buys rthe clothes in gfashiopn magzines every monthy? who buys the products advertised in fashion magazines? the rich. are you celebrating the poor or middle class? I'll celebrate the rich. look at the party pictures in vogue.

attitudes like yours make me sick. but I refuse to be drawn into this conversation further with you as I am sure thats exactly what you want......

that comment is so ridiculous it can't possibly be taken seriously.. if it's mean to, it doesn't deserve to be. this is going to come across as terribly idealistic of me and perhaps a bit nonsensical but truly money is nothing... you can substitute the coins, bills, bonds, shares, whatever for sticks and rocks... it's all just tools in exchange... what matters is what you do with it, what GOOD you do with it. for starters, ppl with attitudes like that can put it towards a decent education :innocent:

I love that entire ensemble. I believe all of it is Lanvin, I think, I can't really tell the detailing of the skirt but it looks it. And she has the Lanvin shoes that I want...lol

You're very welcome. She is lovely.

I will post more pictures when I see some. :flower:

Err, without the labourers nothing would get done and you can't justfy the importance of a person based on their wealth. Thats just stupid.

I really like one of the Traina sisters styles, but I can't tell which one it is! She's always hanging out with Nicole Richie! That one!

... (In reference to Taste of Summer's post)

I thought this thread was about discussing the style of socialites... Not their bank accounts. Stay OT, please. :) :flower:

guess she will be wearing lots of carolina herrera now...from fwd:

Lauren Davis, the social girl about town who’s currently the public relations director at J.Mendel, has accepted a new position as vice president of communications at Carolina Herrera, effective June 1. She will report directly to Mario Grauso, head of Puig Group’s fashion division. Davis, a former associate fashion editor at Vogue, will stay at J.Mendel through the transition, helping Gilles Mendel find a replacement.

Davis, widely credited by the fashion community for her efforts in spearheading the launch of J.Mendel’s ready-to-wear line and raising the company’s profile significantly in the 13 months she was there, said she welcomes the new, more corporate, atmosphere. “The opportunity to work for Carolina, Mario, and such an internationally recognized brand is one I couldn’t pass up,” she said. “I think I’ll learn a lot and be exposed to a lot more.”

Thanks for the info, Kimair. I didn't know that she was an associate at Vogue. Sounds like a move up for her, that's wonderful.

Eleanor Lembo
she's got great taste and she's the PR director and muse to Earnest Sewn
she's a good one

sorry Taste of Summer but I don't know of any 'poor' socialites (do you?) & I would say that by the very definition of them being 'socialites' they are concerned very much with being centre of attention & their appearance. ...as for spoilt.... well maybe you can explain why they aren't spoilt (especially since they seem to want for nothing & have everything handed to them on a plate).

I don't 'hate' the rich as so you flippantly put it (without knowing the first thing about me) and I certainly don't feel the need to examine myself.

....do tell me why you think its 'unethical' to work hard. Thats rather an odd view to have I'd say. Lets hope you don't ever have to work for a living with that attitude.
Helena - Unethical to work hard...whoever Summer whatever is they need to consult a dictionary...there is nothing more honest or principled (read ethical) than hard work. Are they implying that work is shameful? Disgraceful? People who don't work - rich or otherwise - are a blight to society in general and should be ashamed that they don 't contribute in any meaningful way (sorry but buying 10 grand worth of clothes to attend a dinner where you donate $1000 to an organization that soaks up 90% of that donation in overhead is not contributing to society) I hope Taste of Summer isn't American because what she/he said to you is embarrassing!

What a great thread!!! This is just my opinion...I love to see "non-Hollywood" socialites featured in articles and in the media....for some reason I respect their style more...it seems to be more personal and less staged. I think some socialites really appreciate fashion and not just wear a designer because something was given to them.

sorry this is stupid question, but aren't most of the women in this thread American? what about European socialites? Asian socialites?
