Sofia Coppola

And with all the fast, flashy culture today, how about a little refinement?

Touche Sofia, touche!

Oh wow - I just hit 10,000 posts. LOL, I don't know whether to be elated or embarrassed. But shouldn't all manner of streamers and confetti be raining down on me now!? :D

"that women stabbed well-coiffed backs to achieve"

What did she mean by that?

I remember looking at W as a kid and getting a glimpse into the lives of these glamorous, adult women. There were hostesses and socialites, toile and place cards, movie stars’ wives with crimped hair in well-dressed Manhattan apartments, debs of the year, and exotic vacation homes. The stories in W let you dream about the kind of life that women stabbed well-coiffed backs to achieve. Here are some of my favorite things in that mood, and in the spirit of indulging in beauty and style.

I can only roll my eyes at this whole paragraph. She acts if she's not a product of that same world. Yes, she's west coast Hollywood, rather than east coast socialite, but she's was never some working/middle outsider to the rich and famous. And I hate that she made that statement "women stabbed well-coiffed backs to achieve." (It means: women stabbed each other in the back to climb up higher up the social scale by whatever means possible. For the high society Sofia is referencing, it would marriage, invites to parties, controlling who got to be on what social boards and etc--.) Yes, that negativity existed, but she's supposed to a feminist. She could instead have used her editorial to mention the ways great rich women came ~together~ to enrich the arts and cultures. (Thank god i never thought to to be a feminist anyway.)

Quick Change Artist
I love Dick Page and the way he does makeup. I like that it takes him five minutes, and he’s not precious about it. Last summer, I was directing a commercial for Marc Jacobs Daisy and had to do an on-camera interview; we were outside in a field—it was, like, 104 degrees, and we were all melting. Dick dabbed some powder in the corners of my eyes and some red lipstick on my cheeks, and instantly I looked so much better. I wanted to learn how to do this myself—how to look my best with just a few things in a few minutes. Here is my makeup lesson with Dick in his SoHo studio. I asked for a simple day look and an added glamorous eye for evening. This is what we ended up with.

She doesn't take herself too seriously  - I was hoping that she would write what products she used for her day look

Yeah the day look is so gorgeous; I'd love to know the products too!

Her skin is amazing.

For some reason I can't view the slideshow :( I'd love to know which products were used; it's a gorgeous natural yet polished look.

Sofia Coppola and her daughters Romy, 7, and Cosima, 3, were seen walking to school in the West Village neighborhood of New York City on Wednesday (March 5).

I wish she would get interviewed by IntoTheGloss - she always looks so youthful

love her honey-colored locks and lip color done by Dick. wonder if it's Shiseido too? I'm a fan of their shadows, blushers, powders but try to not linger cuz those SAs often seem to emulate Sofia's evening 'look'

wonder if her beauty cabinet looks any different from the last snapshot?

FOR YOU!

Mix Shiseido Perfect Rouge lipstick in Dragon and PerfectRouge Tender Sheer lipstick in Foxy and apply to the apples of your cheeks. Rubthe color toward your temples with your thumbs. “If it appears that you’re having hot flashes, fine—just keep going,” Page says. “I always add a little on the nose. It looks like you’ve gottensun.”

Instead of using concealer to hide dark circles, create adistraction by smudging Shiseido Accentuating CreamEyeliner in Brown along the lower lash line with your pinkie. “The worst thing you can do is make abig blank with concealer between your lip and your eye,” Page says.

Dip your ring finger in Shiseido Luminizing Satin EyeColor in Paperwhite and blend into the innercorners of the eyes. (Page calls this “baby eyes.”)

Comb brow hairs down with a spoolie brush, then, using afirm brow brush, apply Shiseido Eyebrow Styling Compact in Medium Brown alongthe tops of the brows, making a few strokes at the outer edges, to look “alittle more glamorous.” Comb hairs back up.

It looks to be the same colors to me, he probably just smudged a little on the lip too...it's very subtle

It's so interesting how Romy looks exactly like Thomas and Cosima looks exactly like Sofia. I love her latest candid outfit.
