Five decades later and it seemed little has changed as the 74-year-old slipped into a figure-hugging evening gown last night in Italy.
The low-cut outfit showed how well she's managed to preserve her charms - and a body that isn't found on many grandmothers.
Sophia was attending a ceremony in the Adriatic resort of Jesolo, north of Venice, which has named a section of its seafront after the screen idol.
Her roles may be less racy than in the 50s, but Oscar-winner Sophia is still a working actress.
She joins Nicole Kidman, Judi Dench, Penelope Cruz, Kate Hudson in the musical Nine, due out later this year.
Sophia has claimed her stunning looks are down to a healthy lifestyle, recommending a youthful attitude, nutritious diet and the use of olive oil as a moisturiser.
