South Coast Plaza

This seems like the best mall in the world. It has so many designer stores. You Costa Mesans are so lucky!

i was just there last weekend! i saw a gorgeous white (weasel?) coat and a beautiful dress in the LV window...the salesppl at most of the stores were very nice and helpful....i usually don't like HUUUUGE malls and prefer boutiques,but it's def a nice place to hav within a reasonable distance to shop at

I was there earlier this year and it is a very nice mall, has a lot of stores which one would think would be only on upscale streets, like Madison Ave in NYC, Oak St in Chicago or Rodeo Drive in L.A.

Up until that point, I was always impressed (sizewise) by King of Prussia Mall outside of Philly, but South coast is defintely better.

The only thing I really didn't like is the department stores. Macys, Nordstroms, Sears and Robinsons May aren't exactly high-end dept. stores. There is a Saks there but that's about it. A Neimans or even a Bloomies would work well there....

yea I didn't get it about the department stores. you have all these high end boutiques then you have sears and macys. eh

I used to live in Newport Beach and South Coast Plaza was my favorite hangout spot .That was the only place in Southern California, in which I could smell Europe. It has nearly every designer store, very nice cafes and restaurants.. It's usually not very crowded, and it's also possible to see a celebrity in that place from time to time. I agree about the-bit of-dullness of big department stores, but it's still worth a visit. The place's only 10 min. drive from the JFK airport..

Having grown up a 5 minute drive from South Coast Plaza (and still living only 5 minutes away), it is surreal to think what it was 20 years ago (when I. Magnin was a tenant and there was a Big 5 Sporting Goods inside) compared to what it is now. I remember when Sephora opened nearly 10 years ago...what an amazing day that was...for a while one couldn't even get in it was so crowded...there was security and a line outside.

And don't get me started on when Bloomie's opened 1.5 years ago...that was one of the happiest days of my life...I no longer had to drive 20 minutes to Newport Beach!

Ahhh...home...ok...I digress.

Please, COME TO SOUTH COAST PLAZA, and boost the local economy!!!!

Back on topic...all hail SCP! I know that Sears has been there since the '70s, but that's okay. Even rich folks need Craftsman tools! The Bloomie's there is awesome and where else can I hit Zara, Mango, and H&M within feet of each other?

It would be nice to have Neiman Marcus there too, but Fashion Island is only a 10 minute drive away.

YES! I love that mall. It was every store - every designer, you feel like you're in la la land.

Heh...I remember growing up my mom and I would alternate our daily after school trip between South Coast and the library. I blame her completely for my addiction to shopping and books...obviously.
When I went off to college (UofM) in Minnepolis, I was psyched for the Mall of America thinking it would be like SCP on steroids and I was seriously dissapointed.
Someone mentioned designer mixed with Macy's (hello Sears anyone?!?) and really this is what I find so awesome about South Coast. You can get a riding lawn mower and some new La Perla all in one outing.

I used to go to South Coast at least once a week but I've gotten so insanely busy lately... I haven't been able to make a trip in months. Which is ridiculous since it's only about 20 minutes away. (I spend most of my time at Fashion Island now in Newport Beach because I work there.) But I heard about the Louboutin store opening and I cannot WAIT to finally find the time to make a drive up the 405 fwy.

omg i pass south coast plaza all the time and not once have i made time to stop by.. (going from san diego to the bay area) so i was always not in a mood to shop in between a 7-8 hour drive. i really should just take a day trip there and do all my shopping at once. my sister in law lived in newport beach but we always went to fashion island instead.. booo.
