So, when it is just FREEZING cold out, as is happening in a few parts of the world now.. and the snow is crunching beneath your feet. and 90% of the people you see will only notice your coat and your red, runny nose :p ... What coat would you wear to look stylish when your top half can't do it for you?

If you could keep them under $200, so I can steal your ideas.. that would be great :innocent: ....

It's still in the 40Fs here but I'm not looking forward to the -15F temperatures, etc. looming ahead. I love jcrew coats-- esp. because they come with the option of thinsulate!

this stella mccartney would do me well, maybe i'll write her a letter and affix a peta sticker to it or something (& maybe a snide comment about heather mills?)... and then it will magically appear in my mailbox

Honestly, two of the best coats I've purchased came from the two most unlikely sources.

I got a GREAT camel fisherman style coat from Abercrombie & Fitch a few years ago. I get more 'where did you get that!?' on that coat than most anything I have! It was about $198 or so. I would really check there, even if you aren't a fan of Abercrombie. Coats seem to be one of the only items that they don't plaster their logo all over, LOL!

The second place I got a wonderful coat was TJ Maxx. I got the most beautiful navy blue cashmere peacoat by Ralph Lauren there for $199.99. It is stunning. TJMaxx is often a mess and annoying to look through, but trust me, they often have tons of hidden gems if you are willing to take the time and weed through the garbage.

I hope this helps. It's 6am and I haven't slept for the night so I hope I answered the post correctly!

I LOOOVE this coat:

Club Monaco has sales now and you can get a very nice wool coat for around $200.. i got mine there and I'm really satisfied with the cut, material, and warmth! (It's lined too.. added bonus.)

Omg, I want all of these coats now. Too bad that it's never really *freezing* in Southern California!

I got a great looking black peacoat from target for 60 bucks yesterday. It looks way more expensive than it was and really feels and looks very good quality. It is wool and after I inspected it in the store, it seems like it will last a good few years.

I find coats so hard to find... I love jackets, but coats seem to drown me.. being petite and quite skinny leaves me without much choice!

Last year I bought at San Marcos/TX a Armani leather coat for U$120

I have a long coat from J. Crew with thinsulate lining that I wear on skirt days. It was more than $200, but their coats do go on sale for less.

I also have a canvas jacket with polyfill lining from Target that I wear with a thick cashmere hoodie that keeps me surprisingly warm. The jacket was only $40.

pucci mama - I hear ya! I always have issues with the shoulders being too wide on the smallest sizes, even the petite sizes too.

I've got a light pink wool coat from Victoria's Secret and I always get compliments on it, but I'm getting tired of the pink now, I want something red or black next. I'd love white or ivory but I'd be way too afraid of getting it dirty.

Haha, Softie you beat me to it! I just went in today and tried some on, the quality and tailoring is incredible for the price point:woot:!

A few under $200 that I love this season...

Wendice Coat $188

First Frost Coat $178

Helena Overcoat $198

Checkered, Please Jacket $178
