Stephanie Carta

Is Stephanie the girl in the new Diesel ad, the model running whilst a surgeon is stitching her leg? The model's also stitching a mannequin. Sure looks like her, but can't find a pic of the ad online...

It's not on the Chic website. By the by, Chic have her back home in Australia at the moment.

ETA: found it! Is this her? Nose and jawline is the same. Hair, check. But maybe the face is too long? Hard to tell....

ICH. Can't stand her, sorry. Jaw like a pitbull, arrogant attitude to match.. had the misfortune of seeing her in Sydney awhile back at a very large and fashionable mall there, lording over a small gaggle of buddies, gobby and loud. She kept looking around to see who else was looking at her, and up-downing any other girl within eyesight. :yuk:

There are some better photos of her though on the Chic website.. she did an ed called The Machinist which came out nicely, she doesn't look so bad when her head isn't straight-on to the camera. There were some 'natural' pics on Next a few months ago that were hideous, but she's a ton better looking made up.

It's nice to see though that she's finally travelled with her modelling.. hopefully a little worldliness will tone her down and grow her up a bit.

couldnt agree with the first paragraph more!

although i love that Lady Boy ed.
she was in NY back in 2004/5 - cant remember when. didnt do so great i dont think. still modelled in australia - but its enough out of the way that it can seem like you're a fresh girl 3-4 years later.

a pic when she got back from NY - the change in her look is phenomenal. she looks so much softer in this pic.

Stephanie Carta, model

Age: 21

Home base:
All over the place;Paris at the moment, Sydney is my base for work and friends, my mum’s just moved to Melbourne and I’m originally from Brisbane!

Explain what you do in one sentence.
I am a creature who is a clotheshorse, hopefully bringing some life and personality into fashion.

Give us a run-through of your typical day.
For a while in Paris I was getting up and hanging at the house of Balenciaga all day! I loved waking up in Paris. The first thing I always do is have a coffee or green tea in the morning to chill out for a second and figure out what to wear depending on the day ahead. Nowadays, there is no average day.

How were you discovered?
I was discovered in Brisbane when I was in high school, no competition-winning! I really started working when I decided to make the move on my own to Sydney and started with Chic agency. The move was a gamble but it paid off.

What is your career highlight so far?
Moving to Paris and spending five months in Balenciaga, working with Nicolas and the team, being involved in the creative process and observing the coming together of the collection. It was pretty much like a second home.

Best beauty tips for surviving fashion week?
Start the week off well rested if possible. Keep hydrated and get the layers of makeup off before going to bed each night. Maybe finding some glue remover for all those hair extensions we get attacked with!

Handy hints for blitzing a go-see?
A quiet confidence is always good. Try to present yourself well and don’t be afraid to show a bit of your personality.

Who is your favourite fashion icon?
I have so many that come to me at different times. In Paris I was constantly inspired by everything in the studio of Balenciaga.

If I could have one thing this season it would be a…?
Anything from the Gucci AW 08-09 collection, in particular a uniformed hippy jacket. And something in printed silk from the last ksubi show.

If you could only wear one pair of shoes all week, what would they be?
Man-style ankle boots or lace ups, purely for comfort.

Favourite restaurant?
North Bondi Italian

Favourite place to grab something on the run? What’s your emergency meal?
A salad bar or organic shop to get some healthy takeaway or soy coffee. My emergency meal is usually fruit which I’ll have while I’m working. I try to avoid junk food because obviously, it’s not good for you and doesn’t give you the energy to work all day. Sometimes you need a little sugar or caffeine hit though, usually at times like fashion week.

^Thanks. I think Stephanie looks better (/of a different calibre) than most of the other Aussie models walking RAFW ... :ninja:
Though, it is amazing to compare the models in the Paris shows with those in Sydney ... I don't know how I feel about it ... :ninja::blink:
