Sukeina F/W 2023.24 New York

A train wreck. He was never a design genius but I did look forward to his lookbooks…now that I’m seeing it on a runway, I like it much less. His experiments with shape look so awkward in movement and all that weird fur detailing look like the work of someone fired from Fendi on his first week.

The last dress could hardly be any more Siriano: the loud color, the awful fit and the choice of model. It’s also a collection stuck in 2012 but that’s a given with this brand.

The idea was good, I dodnt even mind the zippers but something didnt work maybe the fabrics he selected also the furry pieces and styling make it look like an early 2010s collection.

One of those instances where the post production a look book can allow for lifts the collection up in a way that a physical show can't do. They have become a safety net for a lot of designers particularly for social media, but when a real show is done you realise the point of view isn't exactly there in truth.

I surely don't dislike the silhouettes, the color schemes etc. But so many unnecessary looks and gimmicks. And the last outfit? What is it doing here?

Like I said in the other thread, NYC designers are very, very out of touch and have no aesthetic sense, the giant zippers and frilly doilies really ruin the shapes of the clothes. Michael Kors and Ralph Lauren are the only designers left putting out luxurious and beautiful American sportswear, which is the core of American fashion.

Dang. I was really rooting for this guy.

From what little I've seen online before, his stuff looks solid, considering he's still a smaller, up-and-coming brand.

But this? I'm not so sure. Those see-through blouses + strips of fur (which don't even match, color-wise) are a hard No for me. I'm always a sucker for big, bold zippers, so that's a win for me.

Out of the new crop of NYFW designers (esp. the black ones), I'll still keep my fingers crossed for him.
