How do you find wholesale suppliers? I've found local fabric warehouses where the fabric is cheap because it is left overs from factories but I can't figure out how to find wholesalers. Searching online is hard because "wholesale" brings up so many results. Does anyone know of any industry links directories?

thanks so much, this is a great help. I couldn't find any sites even remotely similiar to these ones searching because too much crap came up no matter what search terms I used.

Thanks for your help, it's greatly appreciated! :)

best way is to attent any possible fabric shows around your area
personally i cant choose from the screen, i need to touch the fabrics /materials

yes good point. I'm not really in a position to be buying at the moment anyway but right now I do need to research possible suppliers and manufacturers for my business plan. :)

yes those sites are only to help direct you to wholesalers, or for some kind of point of reference. i also agree that materials need to be touched if you are to purchase them. and no problem, hope it helps you in your business plan. :flower:

We just did a project at school where we had to source a fabric swatch. We went to this knitting mill in the burbs... the guy said we could order knits to our specifications from about $300 for a 50 yard roll, even small orders. Tucked that away for future reference.

Jobbers are what I usually go to too. Good fabric is hard to find and not fun.

I was surprised but there's actually a lot of knitting mills and so on around town. But of course, they are dying out.

Wow, we really learned a lot that day...

seems like a mills virus at the moment, so many mills closing down due to 'the china effect'
here in EU the situation is a bit out of hand..

yes, you can absolutely visit the fabric fairs without need buying a thing, all you need is a business card ;)
take your time to explore the market, most mills have one speciality fabric better focus on local, it may not be the best but its what is out there for you to create with without delays, huge minimums etc ;)
