System #4 : Lara, Liya, Saskia & Stella by Juergen Teller

Though they are all established models and producing interesting covers, I prefer the magazine to keep the diversity of cover stories, like designer Rei Kawakubo and photographer Juergen Teller of former issues, instead of using the same cover models as other magazines.

It seems there are a few girls who book a lot of these indie magazines.
Liya's cover looks like something my 7-year old god-daughter shot with a cellphone, Saskia's one looks off, the leaf really was unfortunate, and Stella's cover is just making me squirm.
Lara looks the best here.

↑ This is by far the most disgusting "fashion"/"beauty" editorial I have ever seen in my life! For Pete's sake, Lara, WHAT were you thinking allowing that misogynist & creep to do THIS to you?!!  :(

ok, i've seen enough.*

(not offended by lara's body but by juergen's portrayal)

Agree with both of you, this is not sensuality at all. In fact I'm not sure what Teller was getting at here. Her body looks repulsively deformed in most of the shots.

Lara´s pics are so raw, I like them just because of that. I don´t see how this is any different than the other gazillion times she´s been topless in front of the camera... only now her nude body is not glamorized and photoshoped to death.

lara looks good. and it's that natural beauty everyone is screaming about but not really appreciating. it's not another overphotoshoped ed/cover and i really enjoy it this way.

I love Lara by Teller! The pictures are very candid and sexy. We don't usually get to see representations of large breasted models in this realistic manner in fashion magazines, but I don't find it vulgar at all and I do feel the sensuality, It's just done in a contemporary way.

repulsively deformed???

i only see a great looking woman shot in a candid way, in awkward poses maybe, but that's how the human body looks like. i, for one, find it truly refreshing to see a model / fashion mag putting extreme airbrushing aside. im not a particular fan of the photos themselves, but i like what they're doing here. it looks and feels real.

She's gorgeous & so is Her body, Its refreshing not to see everything
airbrushed to death, natural light in the photos too! I much rather see Her figure than hip bones and chest bones jutting everywhere all the time.

Completely agree. This is really one of the things that I love about Juergen's work. I love how intimate and raw is the connection he makes with his subjects. Perhaps these are not the most flattering pictures ever, but there's a refreshing honesty in them that is much needed in the fashion publication world, especially when we have most of the photographers turning models into avatars with their excessive photoshop.

I don't see anything wrong with Lara's images, it's just someone sitting around, in a realistic setting, with her body looking like a body does, if the lighting and the angles aren't manipulated to any great extent. Nice, different, refreshing.

Fresh covers. Lara's ed is stunning & thank god than Teller didn't use the photoshoop.

it is interesting to read so many different opinions. it's really good!

i absolutely agree with you on the excessive use of photoshop, it's gone too far. as for juergen, i adore his nudes he did for paradis magazine a while back, with lily cole or mariacarla for example. those had that artistic added value his otherwise candid-like photographic style is famous for.
from the fashion magazine's point of view, i still find this story a tad exaggerated in a way: this is not about unflattering but about intentionally frivolous for the sake of attracting attention. however as a study of a woman's body, and its celebration with all its 'imperfections', why not. not my cup of tea though. maybe it's the raw digital photography that's balancing on the edge of bad taste and art i simply couldn't care less about.

Eh, I kind of like Lara's editorial. You can see her pores, you can see her skin, she looks like an actual living woman. Maybe I'm just how models are photoshopped to hell and back and end up looking like androids.
