i love the ease of all of this...

the tops are my faves in post #3
and i love the last top with the one pocket...
beautiful neckline...


the snap skirt is chic and fun...
i imagine it could be styled and snapped many ways...
same with the snap vest...

yes basically sold on the website, but at times pop-up corners that physically appear in department stores for just a few days. and seems like today, only for one day, it does in YY aoyama flagship for the launching of the womens line.

This is definitely a much better, true-to-what-yohji-actually-stands for effort than Coming Soon has ever been. I'd hope they would distribute this more openly and in a non-seasonal, always-to-be-had way - this way, it could actually help popularize Yohji's aesthetics to a much wider audience.

I've been wondering if Coming Soon is even going forward...
with this new project and the Regulation line set to be in stores for Spring, I'm not sure I would be going forward with Coming Soon if I were running the company...

I too think these new projects are more successful in terms of expressing a clearly defined point of view than Coming Soon ever has been...

PR and promotion was also an issue with Coming Soon though and I have to think $$ is part of that...

i hope they have a more aggressive PR team in place now with this new business partner and it's definitely helpful that Yohji gets out in front of the media the way he has been doing...

He is really the best marketing tool they've got...

To be honest, I'm not even sure whether Coming Soon is actually still up - I haven't seen anything from them, it wouldn't surprise me if they had eventually decided to fold the line in it's entirety - McQ is for a few seasons back under the umbrella of the house of McQueen's direct guidance and they've proven with hiring someone as Alistair Carr that they are looking to build a serious focus on the line, something it's never had when it was licensed to Sinv, the same people that also produced and distributed Coming Soon.

I can only assume that Yohji Yamamoto (the company) suffered a lot in the last 5 years or so under a lot of mismanagement, besides the unfavorably high Yen currency that made both Y's and the mainline collection's prices rise so considerably high that they were almost exactly alike - I'm not sure why, but for some reasons, Junya Watanabe still keeps a somewhat regular high-end pricing next to Yohji, how they do I don't know as they both manufacture in Japan and what Junya is doing isn't exactly 'simple' to manufacture, either.
