DION LEE INJECTS LINE II WITH BLUE COLLAR CHIC
Dion Lee has taken a step in a more masculine direction for his second collection of diffusion range Line II. The designer's inspiration has a distinctive 'blue collar' feel - the two pop culture touch points that struck me upon my initial scan of the collection were Rocky and The Wire's second season (set on the Baltimore docks).
Along with Lee's much loved design staples (impeccable tailoring, shirting and structural folding), Line II presents cool bomber jackets, slouchy trousers, a striking paint-splattered print and folded skirts resembling boxing shorts. The styling by Imogene Barron contributes to the whole sporty-utilitarian feel: wool beanies, spray painted work boots and minimalist makeup by Max May.
