Tapestry! (and brocade)

thread title edited to include brocade.:flower: though tapestry is actually used for clothing and accessories as well, though it is not as common as brocade I should think. still, I have seen quite a few shoes, handbags, and scarves with tapestry. I have a tapestry handbag from austria that is almost exactly like this one from ebay...with a floral motif woven into the fabric.

^love that dress, utopia

I always liked this prada skirt:heart: :

I love brocade. Years ago I attempted to make a brocade coat but sewing's harder than it looks sometimes. I may go on the hunt for one; this thread's rekindled my interest

both brocade and tapesty theme prints are HUGE and will remain very very hot for at least two season to come

great topic

the dress isn't showing for me...

(good plan with the topic title...imo... ) ;)

I figured with all the confusion between tapestry and brocade one of the mods would interveen, and since they have i will now post some pics of some beautiful brocade things .

I love brocade, there's something so luxurious about it! hmmmm, imaging living in the 18th century wearing brocade dresses.... I loved the fabrics of Miu Miu of f/w 2004, same with prada. I think brocade works so well with A-line skirts and coats!

hey, utopia, you wouldn't believe it, but i have the almost exact same bag (just a bit smaller and a bit more rectangular, but not much), bought in austria like 5 years ago!! it was from a very small antiquities shop, the owner, a nice lady, told me then that she had found it at a thrift shop in new york or paris, she didn't know excactly.....
it was actually quite expensive, but i fell in love with it right away, and it's really a treasure, isn't it?
i'll keep it forever!!!

highheels did you see the cute little bag that matches the first coat you posted? I love it! they call is the tee room tapestry purse

i love brocade. I wouldn't want a big statement piece, but maybe something like a brocade belt. That would be great. Or brocade gloves....I never usually wear gloves but that could look very different.

I know this look is from before, but it is very new for me. Here are few pieces that i have fallen for. Please post pics on ones you like as well.
I really like the second one. It's classy.

I've always loved the look of brocade coats, shoes and evening bags (not all at the same time naturally!). Usually you can find a decent collection of nice patterns in most fabric stores. I've bought a few types of brocade fabric before and turned them into evening bags. I would love to make a coat in a simple pattern though. This is stupid but I recently saw Princess Diaries 2 (i know it's lame but i love it!) and there were tons of brocade jackets in that movie!

We'll Emilie i will have to check that movie out just for that reason alone. I wore a beautiful brocade jacket today and the whole time i was thinking that i could have made it myself. So if you do make that coat definetly let us know here and over at the customations thread!

Here is a tapestry drawstring bag and a brocade purse. I'm not totally in love but they could be nice.
