i love the white highlights, i'm really into using white crayon at the moment thanks to the work of Cedric Rivrain. Need a lot more practise yet thought, i think subtlety might be key

Started this one last week

gorgeous works, guys!!

here's my today's quick sketch. Played around with it in Photoshop and this is what turned out. In case you don't recognize, its Rad Hourani :). original photo from Hintmag. Click to view bigger

Not sure where else to post this, but I have been trying to make gradients and I can never seem to make a smooth transition. You can see the stripes forming -they happen even if I wet the paper first. Any suggestions? I wonder if it's the paper..

It may be because of the quality of the paper you're using. Does the paper end up wavy? Or else it's just your technique. It's easier to get smooth transitions if you do it all in one go, don't wait for different layers to dry! Just keep trying, watercolour is tricky at first (:

Thanks^ Yea I do it all in one go, so it's strange.. and the paper does end up wavy. Is it important that it doesn't? I guess I could tape it down. It's a textured paper, 120lb.
I found some card (Bristol) last night and I did this, wet-in-wet.. The paper is smooth, 100lb, and seems to have worked --well it looks much much better in real life lol. A little stripey here, but I'll try again

I guess it's also humid here. My friend who's visiting, is from the central part of the country and it's very dry there.. She was telling me when she was making tea, that the water boils very quickly here. And I guess my paints dry faster or I'll try to use more water

I'm not nearly as good as any of you, but here goes.

I haven't been doing anything for a few years, but I recently finished something that started out as a doodle. Haven't used crayons since I was a kid. Hah. :)

My very first painting. Spongebob on a diner. He did order sushi, but the desperate chef is out of fish and tries to serve him a flamingo.
