My precious fFS people, this would be a WRAP! Hope you enjoyed my selection of the red carpet/festival's galas fashion, see you August/September in Venice. ❤️
P.S. In case you are wondering, my this year's fave is stunning Elle Fanning - from Armani Privé, Valentino Couture and this custom Chanel gown - she simply nailed every look she (or rather her longtime stylist, Samantha McMillen) pulled up!
Before I make a comment on Margaret Qualley x Chanel, I think my contribution to this thread would't be complete if I didn't mention two Chinese actresses who, in my opinion, left a pretty big impression (especially the latter one!) on this year's Cannes Film Festival red carpet (but for whom, at that particular time, I didn't have images of satisfactory quality/size) :
Elaine Zhong Chuxi in Elie Saab Spring 2023 Couture ("Dossier 137" Premiere, May 15th 2025)
Shu Qi in Ashi Studio Spring 2025 Couture ("Resurrection" Premiere, May 22nd 2025)
Totally agree with you, my dearest @vogue28 ❤️ - Margaret Qualley was a true (red carpet) STAR in that custom Chanel Couture! (And I didn't mentioned her only because her movie was out of competition/midnight screening, which is pretty irrelevant/uneventful when it comes to the Cannes Film Festival itself.)
When it comes to THE dress, French Vogue (on their site) says:
For the occasion, the 30-year-old American actress wore a magnificent custom-made Chanel dress, inspired by look 73 from the S/S 1990 Couture collection, worn at the time by Claudia Schiffer, Karl Lagerfeld's muse. A powder pink dress enhanced with a black bow studded with a flower whose grace was played out in the sleeves that slid, at will, along the shoulders. In the 2025 version worn by Margaret Qualley, the black belt and the rose are gone, swapped for a camellia, a flower without perfume or thorns that fascinated Coco Chanel and that she considered a symbol of purity. But the shoulders are still as free as ever to highlight the actress and former ballerina's dancer's carriage. The creation of this strapless dress in silk crepe and chiffon took 200 hours of work, for a dazzling result, engraved in the fashion annals of this 78th edition of the Cannes Film Festival.
