Killers Prepping Live DVD, Covers Album
The Killers are planning a live DVD release for later this year.

Even though The Killers are deep into touring their third studio effort "Day & Age," drummer Ronnie Vannucci tells Billboard.com plans are in the works for a DVD concert release later this year.

"We're working on some ideas for what will be our first DVD," Vannucci says. "We've been kind of hounded about it for a while, and haven't really thought we were due for it yet, but I think it's time. I think we're approaching the moment of DVD mass hysteria."

That's not all the band is currently working on. In addition to tinkering around with songwriting ideas for its next Christmas single, the percussionist admits there have been internal discussions about the long-rumored Killers covers album. Songs already recorded include Bright Eyes cover "Four Winds (U.K. B-side for "Spaceman"), as well as a Cyndi Lauper tune and a version of Murray Head's "One Night in Bangkok." Regarding the latter track, Vannucci says the band "messed around" and recorded it with Louis XIV. He stressed at the very least a street date for the covers project remains far off, if not open-ended.

"Yeah, that's happening," Vannucci says. "We have a couple in the can but I don't know when the hell we'll get it off the ground to release it. But it's going to happen. I think it's a good thing for us to do. Let's say the **** hits the fan and it never gets released, it's at the very least nice to kind of study other people's music in the way songs are written or constructed.

"It's going to be one of those things that will be more fun for us than anybody else. I think it's still a while off but things move kind of fast with us and get cooking, so it could just be when we have a collection of songs for the press, we'll put it out there."

With plenty of life left in "Day & Age," The Killers, who are currently finishing up a stateside tour before heading to Europe next month, are looking forward to releasing the album's third single; however, that track varies from continent to continent.

"It depends on what country you're in," Vannucci laughs. "That's the weird phenomenon about this album. We're realizing that other counties are picking their own singles. So in America, the next single will be 'A Dustland Fairytale,' but in the U.K., Europe and Australia, it's 'The World We Live In.' But Australia is also playing 'Losing Touch.' Spain is hip to 'I Can't Stay,' which isn't really a surprise. At first when we played it over here it was a little bit like head scratching. But who knows, it could all of a sudden turn around. 'Bones' was like that.

"Hell, the whole 'Sam's Town' record was like that. Now when we play 'Sam's Town' stuff, they freak out."

I haven't seen them live but maybe at least in dvd, then..

btw theres an article about The Killers in this months Elle UK (the one with Winona Ryder on the cover)
At once article which is more fashion than music.. I could not imagine read this stuff from music mags.

The Killers and MTV Unite Against Human Trafficking
The band’s ‘Goodnight, Travel Well’ video to premiere exclusively on MTV…
14:29, Monday, 6 July 2009

---
The Killers have joined forces with MTV to stamp out human trafficking.

Produced in partnership with UNICEF, USAID and MTV Exit – MTV’s campaign to raise awareness and increase prevention of human trafficking and exploitation - the band have made a powerful video for their track Goodnight, Travel Well, highlighting the dangers of trafficking and the sexual exploitation of young women.

The video will premiere on MTV on Monday, July 13 and will be available to watch both on-air and here on mtv.co.uk.

"We are deeply shocked and appalled that women and children are forced into such exploitative situations,” said The Killers, announcing the collaboration. “We hope that through MTV's efforts and this powerful video that millions of people across the world learn about this tragic form of modern-day slavery".

MTV Exit’s partnership with The Killers follows in the footsteps of last year’s collaboration with Radiohead, in which the band co-produced an award-winning film to accompany their single All I Need.

More than 1.2 million children are being trafficked each year and nearly 80 percent of all trafficking is for sexual exploitation.

Be sure to check out the video for Goodnight, Travel Well when it premieres on Monday, July 13, right here on mtv.co.uk
