and dick van ****
yes MTM's 70s show is one of the great tv sit-coms and a pioneering show for women/feminism.
equally her work on the dick van **** show in the 60s is superb & she was incredibly hot at that time, a former dancer with a perfect physique & her clothes and stylist is just as reflective of the early-mid 60s era as her own show was to the 70s.
if you like the MTM show from the 70s [and who doesnt?] look into the Bob newhart show from the 70s which followed MTM on CBS for many years.
if memory serves the saturday night CBS lineup was:
8: all in the family
8:30 jeffersons
9: MTM
9:30 bob newhart
10: carol burnett
some other show must have been in place before the jeffersons started shooting as it was a spinoff of all in family, maybe someone else knows what was after all in family before MTM in early 70s.
look at that lineup of shows- I havent found any sitcoms of that quality for decades. last network comedy shows that impressed me at all were like 'soap' and mary hartman, and snl and fridays in late night. although as far as dramas 'dynasty, beverly hills 90210 and melrose place' were significant shows of their eras.
the few moments Ive seen of frasier & seinfeld are passable but nowhere near the level of all in the family or bob newhart.
