The Most Beautiful Dress You've Ever Seen...

It's too bad those Givenchy Couture dresses weren't shown on a runway. The setting really cheapens the clothes:( (which are FAAAAAR from cheap!)

Those Christian Lacroix dresses are amazing! :woot:
Aren't they! I can honestly say that those two looks are THE most amazing ensembles in a collection I've ever seen. Everything about those two looks are phenomenal and so inspiring. I love the mix of Spanish conquistadors and Catholicism with fiery sexuality and primitive, erotic paganism.

Haute Couture FW 02 and SS 06 are his best collections in my opinion and I would do ANYTHING for the videos of both!

I still love John Galliano, but as of now Lacroix is my obsession!

thanks for the Givenchy...
it's really good to see it back...
all the codes were already there... that's always interesting to see that...

Lacroix... well it's Lacroix... his Couture is always AMAZING...
just amazing...
i once had the chance to go in his bureaux...after Couture...
it was a great day...

and there's one dress i love...
never found back the images but still got the video...
it's a Theyskens collection...
the mood was really strong... very Flandres...
I think Maggie opened the show... there were lot of leather... i'm not really sure of the soundtrack... but was good, too...
anyone who's got a piece from this collection... he's genius...
Maybe it was around Madonna's period...

You have the video?...of a Theyskens collections? A full video? COULD YOU UPLOAD AND SHARE IT PLEASE!

^^BerlinRocks, r u talking about the F/W 2000 show?? There was
a lot of leather in it, and the signature gigantic ball skirted looks, esp the electric blue trench ball gown..:heart: If so, style.com still has the photos...however, if it's the menacing FW1999, and if I'm not mistaken, with the enclosed body looks with obi wraps, birds and hair, images are really hard to find:( Hope you could post the video.

I think I might have already posted but oh well

Not only do I love the dress itself. It was worn by my favourite model, in my favourite show, from my favourite designer, with my favourite fashion soundtrack.

Everything about it is perfect.

Ida, that white Nina Ricci was my favorite thing in the entire collection and is still one of my fave dresses. Those ostrich feathered numbers paled in comparison to that one.

As for those Lacroix, I've been in love with that first one for quite some time. The embroidery on the corset is to die for and the head piece adds such a perverse touch to it. Kind of like a gas mask mutated into a mantilla or something.

Lacroix is a magician when it comes to dresses. His way with colors, textures, embroideries and fabric is unparalleled.

Here are a few more from him that I love.

Any designer who can convince me that pink ruffles are a good thing must be amazing.

^ Models shouldn't have a bearing on the beauty of a dress, they're completely seperate from each other.

As for Lacroix not having talent....well, that's definitely a first

I think it takes an immense amount of talent to do what he does and not have it look like tacky, messy or overdone....

Of course you may not like it, but that doesn't constitute a lack of talent.

I also LOVE those 4 dresses you posted, Spike! I love the HC SS 02 show, it's was so chic! And that pink ruffled dress looks so delicate and ethereal and the styling is so amazing, because the black tulle around the face and the white hat offset that fragile quality of the dress...it's magical, really.

I agree. He's a genius in every sense of the word, I believe.

His aesthetic is so tasteful, playful, sexy, referential and historical yet entirely personal, and his design motto, "more is more" is something that can often be very tacky when others attempt it, but when he piles on the color, the patterns, the jewelry, the lace, the embroidery, the hats, and all that glitters I just start foaming at the mouth!

Lacroix is my FAVE designer. Too bad he's not as popular as Chanel and Dior.

I think his best collections are S/S 05 and F/W 05.

I agree. He definitely deserves it. Although, I like that he's a little misunderstood and not a mainstream handbag and perfume label. It makes him more special and precious, I think.

Dior HC f/w 97

The silhouette is painfully gorgeous, the simple embroidery, the open decollete. I love how John managed to totally capture the Edwardian look but kept it looking surprisingly fresh and un-costumey (the fact that the models red hair is such a great contrast to the silver dress is an added bonus.)

I had a very tough time choosing my favourite, but I think the details really stand out in this piece (maybe becuase it's white?).

LOVE the pics you posted from Dior FW97 HC, and I don't even like Dior :innocent::flower:
