The most overpaid actor in Hollywood is Nicole Kidman

The problem is that Nicole's movies of these past few years have all lost money (Studios typically get half the gross money, so when they spend 1$ on Nicole, they get back only 50 cents) . Her latest effort even ruined a studio. She cannot carrrie a movie on her name (with few exceptions like Moulin Rouge, but that was ages ago), yet she demmands A-list pay-check.
So she is definitely overpaid. Cate Blanchet has modest pay requirement. She isn't overpaid.

She's been doing mostly independent films lately. Only with the big commercial ones does she demand a big paycheck.

^a number one for one week doesn't mean anything. You have to look at the lifetime gross. The Interpreter (which I enjoyed, btw) cost $80 millions and took back double that, which mean the studio barely recouped its money. And you have to remember on these big productions there is always a massive promotion budget, which probably means the studio actually lost money. Same with Golden Compass: you might think it brought a lot of money, but it didn't compared to what it cost. New Line went bankrupt because of it. Even her independant movies hardly ever manage to even match their anemic budget.
Look up her movies at Box-office mojo.

I know you worship her but let's face it, she's box-office poison.

^I didn't know you were going to turn this into a debate round; I don't have evidence boxes with me on Nicole Kidman's box office statistics. I merely commented and replied to the things I do have knowledge of.

Since your knowledge of NK-specifics eclipse mine, and seeing how I'm not as gung-ho about debating this as you (nor willing to spend time digging up evidence and formulating counter-arguments), I'm done at this point.

In every candid she wears hideous ensembles such as bootleg 3/4 track pants with chunky sneakers
Even at events her dresses are boring at best....for a person who makes a living using physical expression, she sure looks stiff in every photo / interview (or maybe it's because she can't move her face )
She looked great for Chanel, but that was someone else's work... (That poor someone must have been working damn hard too...)
