The Theatre Thread

A new poster of Darren Criss as J. Pierrepont Finch for How to Succeed in Business.... has been released. He's taking over for 3 weeks after Daniel finishes his run.

It also looks like Beau Bridges will be playing John Larroquette's role.

^ Darren's doing Jan 3rd-22nd, shame it's such a short run.

Few other bits & pieces theatre wise. Bridget Jones and Finding Neverland musicals are being pitched for next season in London.

James Corden's brilliant One Man. Two Guvnors, which is storming it in London is transferring to Broadway next year. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Andrew Garfield's Death of a Salesman opens on Broadway next March. A must-see.

My fav news though is that Newsies (who doesnt love the movie?) is doing a limited run on Broadway from March 15 to June 10, sadly sans Christian Bale lol! So excited!

In all my Newsies excitement, I forgot Seminar on Broadway starring Alan Rickman and Jerry O'Connell.

I really want to see Newsies! It looks so good... going to try to get to new york while it is playing. And as for How To Succeed, I really wish I could have seen it with Daniel (he looks so good) but I don't understand why Nick Jonas is getting a lot of hate. I think out of all the Jonas Brothers he has the most talent (oh boy... I'm showing my age here:lol:). And he did the London show of Les Miz, which did quite well if I remember. So it's not like he can't act.

I really want to see Newsies as well and I'm so excited about Death of a Salesman!

So, so excited for Darren Criss to be on Broadway! I may splurge and go see him.

^It might be worth doing the Rush to see Darren in How to Succeed if you live in NY, riskier but cheaper!

The Newsies cast are doing the Thanksgiving parade this year too, so keep an eye out for them!

Thanksgiving Parade performances, they're all kind of bad recordings so apologies, they're the only ones out there atm!

Newsies

Spider-Man TOTD

How To Succeed

Much better quality Parade performances of Newsies & How to Succeed! Dan's dancing has come on so much in the last few months.

Newsies and How To Succeed were really good at the Macy's Day parade. I didn't care for Spiderman, personally it seemed all too clear why it's failed, I wish they had another musical preform instead.

If you're a fan of Roald Dahl or Tim Minchin (even if you're not) I really can't recommend Matilda highly enough. It's absolutely fabulous, if you're in London, go see!

I'm in NY with a client who's doing some promo for their movie at them moment so last night we took the oppertunity to go to How to Succeed and see Darren Criss is the role. I've seen it with Dan too. First up let me just say Beau Bridges is awful. He fluffed lines, he 'Rex Harrisoned' his way throuh the songs, it was painful. Darren is interesting, strikes me, on stage at least, he's a actor/dancer who can sing a bit. He doesn't have a Broadway voice, it's a bit thin and it doesn't particularly carry well, even with a mic. Some vocal work could go a long way to strengthening that though. He plays Finch much more innocently than Dan ever did and that works nicely and like I said, he can dance, Brotherhood of Man was fantastic. It's a shame he's in for such a short run because I think a six month run would suit him, he needs time to bed in. I've heard on the grapevine that the producers of the show were viewing this as a trial with the idea of building another production round him so we'll have to see what happens. He's certainly packing them in, the theatre was full. I should say he's a total sweetheart though, a really lovely guy.
