Guys of the spot,
I have incredibly short lashes and to add insult to it, it grows downwards. Its a little too short to curl, tried eyelash tinting (helped but just a little bit), fake eyelashes (too much time) among others.

Short of going for an eyelash transplant if thats even possible, anyone has any advice on how to make my lashes look better? ive tried eyeliner but have this sensitive poke eye phobia issue which increases the difficulty.

Really loved the fake eyelashes, unfortunately I already spend way too much time on my hair each day and I cant be anymore fashionably late than I already am.

Any solutions? 'exasperation'

I have really long lashes, and they do tend to grow straight out so I get this "cow's eyes" effect...

When I remember I use an eyelash curler in the morning... Just lightly though so I don't get dolly eyes instead of cow eyes... :ninja:

If I were you, big, I'd look in the mirror, say "Thank God I'm not a woman," and run out the door to wherever you're going ;)

Marina Rust just had an article in Vogue about eyelash extensions, but it sounded like way too much trouble to me--and I wear two coats of mascara.

Yeah, those lash extensions require some up-keep, but they do look great!

How about a tube of natural looking mascara, lightly apply a coat or two just to add some pigment and length to your lashes?

Thanks for all the wonderful insights and advice.

Ive tried mascara before dint really work very well, as the main problem is that my lashes grow kinda on the inside of the lid going downwards, so its really close to the eye, I have heaps of problems doing eyelash tinting even, my tech has a hard time lifting and seperating the lashes.

The eyelash extensions look fabulous, although the horror stories are kinda scary, cant imagine myself with any less eyelash once they come off.

WIll do more research on the extensions though, kinda tempted. HAHA the price of vanity. ;)

Thanks again all, much appreciated.

The down growing lashes sound kind of cool and unique, I think. :ninja:

Now I'm exactly the opposite of Big's incredibly short eyelashes. I have some of the longest lashes in the world (well for a guy at least), and trust me, its not really that much of a blessing. By far one of the most annoying feelings in the world is having sunglasses pushing up against them. Not to mention people always ask if I'm wearing eyeliner since they grow out and down to the outside of my eyelid, really making it look like I smudged eyeliner on the outside of my eyes.

To be completely honest, and I know its not the advice that you wanna hear, but I'd say stick with what you have. Beauty is a subjective and individual thing. See, there are downsides to having long lashes too ;)

omg rockstar, i have the same prob.. even my mother is like...do you wear eyeliner?!??! ugh.

Oh my goodness, your eyelashes sounds just like my husband's and I always nickname him "Snuffleophagus"! (No offense meant :flower:)

There's a piece of anecodotal advice which I have heard - some say that if you cut your eyelashes off, lusher, longer lashes will regrow in its place.
Curiously enough, I have a friend who was brave enough to do it and her lashes did appear to be longer upon regrowth. Another friend did it to her baby daughter and now the little girl does have pretty lush lashes and it's definitely not genetic.
Take this anecdote with a huge pinch of salt..I would love to try but I don't think my boss will be happy if I disappear from work till my lashes grow back to a presentable length.

I actually have a friend that trims her lashes during winter for it to grow back in time for spring, but what if it doesnt work on me!!!!

Ill end up with gasp!!!! even shorter lashes!!!!!! What I do nowadays is simply tint and perm to create a longer lash look rather to improve visibility, it does work in my case and because its short, it doesnt look dolly at all. My technician asked me to consider a lid lift, I cant imagine anything else being done to my eye area, Im already paranoid about contacts!!! much less a lid lift!!!

Haha, mine gave up on asking me that once she realized that I really don't know how to use eyeliner if you put it in front of me. Even in my avatar pic, if you look closely it looks like I've got eyeliner on in the outermost corners of my eyes...nope, all natural.

Cutting off your eyelashes?! God, I've never even heard of that. I would personally need some sort of legal reassurance that the results would be worth it. Maybe if I cut mine off, they'll grow back to an even more increasingly awkward length? LOL!

One of my friends has AH-mazing eye-lashes and she told me that when she was a baby her grand-mother cut them. And that's why she has really long lashes. I believe that and i will do it to my baby as well. But what about me? I can't do it now. What if they don't grow back? Well fake eye-lashes for me.LOL

I always found it astonishing how guys have really pretty lashes that need no curling what so ever...mine are long but they curling them has to be done allllll the time. I ran outta mascara a while ago too. I wanted to see if minimal impact would show any difference..so far it hasn't. So I'll be getting some more soon.

ohhh god you guys.

don't make me run downstairs and snip my eyelashes off. i'm so about to do it.

How could cutting your lashes make them grow back longer? I guess it's possible, but it's such a big risk.
When my dad was little, people always commented on how long and pretty his eyelashes were. He cut them off because he was embarassed, and they never grew back.
