I like these shots. I wouldn’t say they thrill me but I’m happy to see Sora Choi in more campaigns.

This is just the social media campaign. The main campaign was shot by Klein.
Very basic but i like the models. TF campaigns are very diverse overall...And without making it obvious.

Apparently, it's an in-store campaign too. Not just digital. I think this one is for these new released Tom Ford sunglasses.

A dedicated in-store advertising campaign has been created to support the launch, featuring well-known Asian influencers Sora Choi and Li Yufeng.

Terry’s shoots for Tom remains the most memorable and will always be what high fashion dreammaking is all about, as far as I’m concerned. I get that Terry’s a plague to be wiped out to most people these days, but he did possess a unique eye at one time, with his work for Tom being the opus of that brand of decadence. I still adore his mid-90s - mid-2000 eye.

And I know we’re in different fashion times now, but this… this is the equivalent of a Sunglass Hut instore signage. (And I can’t decide what looks cheaper, the sunglass designs-- or the level of heavy retouching that’s horrifically amateur.)

^^
The early days of the Tom Ford brand remained iconic for me: Terry, Marilyn Minter, M&M...
As the brand has became bigger, there has been a lack of consistency in the ads. I think that Ezra could be good for the Social media or this kind of things, Solve Sundsbo for the beauty and perfume and then, he can rotate from Photographers to photographers for the main campaigns.

As Carine is his main collaborator, he can also work with Cortina for the rest.

It’s sweet you still have faith in Carine, Lola… I’ve given up on her. Her VP era remains her imperial phase and the stuff of sweet sweet sweet high fashion dreams, of course. Now she’s as creative as a mid-range department-store weekly flyer who’s just coasting by the stars she dresses.

George on the other hand… I would love love love to see him contribute to the Tom Ford brand. It’d be Tom’s lost if he never works with George. The current Tom Ford campaign by Steven is solid, but Tom needs to be more than just solid-- and I’m always genuinely shocked when he signs off on cheap-looking campaigns, since as a filmmaker, there never is a single weak shot in any given scene. With Terrry, he was so OTT-fearless… and tacky, and ballsy, graphic and witty. Then again, Terry really hasn’t been any of those great elements for over a decade now. So just like Carine, I will always adore Terry's past work, but he’s of the past now.

(I can't get over how pedestrian this campaign looks. I get it's just for SM, but it just looks so cheap... And the little boy they cast looks like the type of model you'd see in an indie Thai digital magazine.)

No, no, no...I don't really have faith in Carine anymore but she is so much about the money now that she will never leave Tom Ford. It's a billion dollar brand, she is very important for the designer/boss so, i have to make her part of the process anyway.

I think that part of the "relevance" issue in Tom's work comes from Carine. He is still a good and solid designer but he doesn't have the balance of someone more informed in what is going on or someone who can challenge his taste or his take on sexiness. Carine is doing Carine which was, cutting edge in the 90's, perfectly on time in the 00's and already a bit passé in the 2010's...
She can't have a fresh perspective on things...Even more because she is so much about hollywood and things.

Tom needs a real fashion person, much like what Carine was before being this top celebrity.

Karl Templer, George Cortina, Benjamin Bruno, Alexandra White...etc. Those are the kind of people who can really help the brand. It's still very shocking to believe that Tom Ford is a billion dollar brand as a lot of things seems to be done in a very amateur way. He was the king of "everything slick and controlled" and while he seemed to follow that trajectory in the beginning, we can't really say that it has been that way since he cameback to womenswear.

I know someone who used to work in the finance department of Tom Ford. She told me the investors are fleeing because his brand isn’t bringing in money. As difficult as it may sound to some people, not me personally, but TF is in the RED! Time will tell how he will restructure his image and his business.

By doing underwear:lol::lol:
But suddenly i wonder who are his investors because it's a private company and his business model is based on licensing deals (Marcolin, Zegna, Estee Lauder) and some of his stores are franchises.
I thought it was pretty solid but i guess it's not. But i guess when you have a private company you don't have to justify it to the press and the perception doesn't work against you.

Tom Ford annual retail revenue encompassing all categories was estimated at nearly $2 billion in 2017.

His business is not in "the red".
