Tom Ford S/S 2021 New York

What a disappointment from Tom. Without Marc, his was the only NY collection I've been looking forward to and it turned out to be a massive let-down. From the photography to clothes - it looks like bootleg Roberto Cavalli. Dreadful!

Although, I must admit that I'd love parading around in my home wearing that incredibly tacky second-to-last cape thingy with a print and fringe. It's so ugly I can't help but love it!

I would have taken out the lilac printed blazer, looks cheap. I do like the white flowers against a dark background and that one black skirt with flounces at the hem. The opening looks will have all the Miami cougars salivating.

A bit too beachwear with all the caftans but he did say it was difficult just to put this together.

I must admit that I'm biased because it's Tom but I like it more than his FW 2020.
While the collection has a very "done with what we had left" quality and that he said the process was very difficult, I think the collection still captures some very Ford themes: Hedonism and optimism.

The collection reflect the moment in time we are now (even if the lockdown is finished in my part of the world) but it's good enough to be desirable for the summer 2021 season. Ok, it's too peachy/holidays but I don't mind.

There are some tacky prints (the flowers), some questionable propositions (logos and those two gowns) and the photography/photoshop is too harsh but overall, I like that it has the identity of Tom Ford. I've seen the menswear and I wouldn't mind buying some pieces for me too.

This is obviously my favorite collection from NYC. It's pity to not have a Marc show...

Tom must be rolling in his grave...wait, he is still alive!!

Looks like any random emerging label with several Gucci by Tom Ford pics on their mood board, just to dilute all of his previous work into generic clothes.

Sad to see this. Feels like Studio 54 about to close, smells of decadence everywhere.

One of the few brands that I will check during NYFW, but a bit disappointed. There are several very chic pieces there but that’s it.

I love it but just like the previous collections I noticed many of the brands are sticking to the same easy to wear user friendly SS20 trends.

Good heavens, when did American fashion reach this level of basic?

Like, I know we're under lockdown and designer fashion isn't exactly at the top of everyone's priority list, but there is still plenty of space for innovation.

I don’t think the lockdown made innovation possible given the fact that they couldn’t work in the studio...

Maybe he should have skipped the season but I don’t think his business model allowed him to do it. Marc, Michael, Tommy or even Ralph’s does not depend on the mainline.

I think we will see more achieved collections by the moment we get to PFW.
