Mood/Style:
the Highline Chelsea Passage provided a breezy and scintillating backdrop for Tommy Hilfiger's Spring 2013 collection. Nautical Americana lux was the theme for the designers latest, which prominently featured horizontal and vertical stripes in the brand's signature red, white, and blue. Stripes emblazoned boxy pantsuits with roomy trousers, trapeze dresses, flat espadrilles, and boxy clutches, given an exotic twist with pops of python. Red, white, and blue also made its way onto zigzag and dotted prints, spied on halter neck swimsuits and shirt dresses, cinched with wide belts. Oversized cable varsity sweater dresses and parkas seemed ready for a 4th of July weekend on the breezy Cape; Tommy also updated certain silhouettes with alluring back zip or lattice lace details, which edged up the front of jumpsuits and along the sides of preppy pants

Lengths:
ankle length dresses, mid thigh length frocks, bermuda shorts, floor length gowns in marigold and tomato red

Colors:
red, white, and navy blue. A smattering of army green, sand, and khaki

Fabrics:
cotton canvas, silk satin, leather, denim, linen, knit, suede, cashmere

Shapes:
loose shapes with slight waist definition, boxy suits, hourglass shapes on select shirt dresses

Accessories:
flat espadrilles, clutches featuring multiple zips, chunky bracelets, bags colorblocked with blue, white, red, and python, oversized round sunglasses, tri tone round toe pumps, boat shoes with stacked white heels, large weekend totes

I'm having a fit right now, because that dress in look # 3 reminds me of a certain Chloe dress from S/S 12.

Thank you for starting this thread! I feel like we never discuss his collections which is a shame as since Som came on board as co-designer the brand has really soared. Whilst I don't find this collection to be as much as a triumph as S/S 2012, it does manage to put a twist on the classic nautical theme; 1970s silhouettes, gold chains on backless dresses. The knits look really well made this time too!

All in all a solid show and my first favourite of the season.

So did Tommy and Marc get the same memo on vertical stripes or what?! ;)

The more I look at this, the more I like it. I can see it doing really well commercially.

Though some of the looks have a total stripe-overload thing going on, I think it's more the runway styling (which I get) than the actual pieces that are problematic. Some of these striped jackets/pants/shirts would look great styled with solid pieces or florals or whatever.

I'm kind of loving the shoes in the second portion... they look like a more mainstream, wearable take on Prada's creepers.

You can never have to much stripes! 85% of my wardrobe is striped :D The bathing suit in post #2, is beyond pure joy.

Another stripe-holic? I should say it's not bad, wearable and bright, but just nothing special.
