Tomo Koizumi S/S 2020 New York

Met him very, very briefly once. He's a very sweet guy. His supportive fans in very high places may have been as much a curse as they have been a blessing. He's been thrust into the limelight well before he was ready. Perhaps it's not really where he belongs or even wants to be.

Oh well. Another one bites the dust. I blame Katie Grand.

Everything Katie grand touches turns to literal sh*t.

Is he being serious? Won't lie, I gave him the benefit of the doubt that this would be a departure from his debut line. Instead it's more of the same. This time without any form. Yikes!

^^^ Oh come on, Benn— that all-black shapeless amoeba-Muppet is worth the price of admission alone.

At least he’s self-aware enough not to waste time and money on a show.

i hope for him that he's not investing any of his own money into this

Nah it seems to be all Katie Grand's connections bringing these muppet concoctions to the public. Last season his show was held in Marc Jacobs' flagship in Madison Avenue. The model choices scream Grand too.

Hahaha, it seems it's a jumpsuit of sorts? I dunno, if that's not one, some of the other looks must be. Who will buy this? Lol. And it only works as an editorial look in British Harper's Bazaar, elsewhere it goes more in the D&G Alta Moda vein which just looks cheap and overprocessed.

At least he’s self-aware enough not to waste time and money on a show.

Only to use some of the most in-demand models for his lookbook. Nope, didn't want to believe it, but it seems Tomo is all fur coat no knickers. I hope he doesn't go the way of Thakoon.

^^^ It’s more of a fashion accessory.

I’d imagine stylists can always pull it with a nice, skinny suit from SL --as long as Tomo is willing to slice the middle open so the poor models don’t look like they’re being swallowed by a Muppet monster. And if some fashion victim is clamouring to wear the label, Tomo could always just throw out some one-size-fits-all ruffle tube fastened with a ribbon and call it a “dress”. It’s what Mark Fast did that sustained his name for a couple of years.

It’s very silly, but I’ll take this any day over that mid-range department-store offering of the likes of Elie Tahari or stuck-in-1993-clubkid same old same old of Jeremy Scott.

SL? Won't happen, I think they're very much in favour of the full-look policy. By right, Tomo himself should've enacted your advice. Would've at least made this look somewhat refreshing.
Re the tube for.....Anna Dello Russo(?), again seemed like something he may have done last season. Sans ribbon. I do like the ribbon motif. He could've played more around that. Waist, neck or cuff definition. Thrim the hem, just a slightly more defined silhouette.

Don't even want to open the Jeremy Scott thread to offend my eyes, it'll likely remain purple permanently on my dashboard.
