lots of lower to middle class teenagers

Class has nothing to do with it (plus his clothing arent very cheap). I think it has to do more with type of style.
For example I do see a lot of preppy looking teenage girls in my neighborhood wearing his polo tees and skirts. These girls are far from lower class; I live in the richest part of Montreal.

I think he makes nice casual stuff to wear around the house and walk around campus with. You cant go wrong with a polo tee and a A-line skirt to walk around campus.

His styles are simple....Not everyone loves the flash clothing :flower:

I must admit that I have this Hilfiger skirt and I wear it all the time. :flower:

oh and btw, this is how much he has made, not how much the company has made (which i imagine is a heap more)

Well from what I've heard from his marketing deparment their market strategies have changed greatly in the past years.

A few years back their styles were more targeted to a young, white, and upper class market (think of those knitted sweaters with the big "H" some of you used to wear to school)

Then their market went to the African American, male teens. But they quickly lost that group when FUBU and Phat Farm came around.

Now their target market profile is in a broader age group, of middle to upper class conservative women. They also market to plus sized women with their size 14 and up styles. (which is quite smart because competition is almost none)

Business wise when you look at his company, they're marketing deparment has done an AWESOME job.

I agree - it's not necessarily class...it's who it appeals to. I myself have owned quite a few Hilfiger items, and I recently bought a striped blazer from his H Hilfiger line.

I come from an upper-middle class background/city and I see people wearing Hilfiger stuff all the time. I have a lot of friends who wear Hilfiger - mostly his polos, etc...it's not uncommon around my area. I think in these past few years, he's gotten his product out more, and has become more appealing to a wider audience. With the launch of his H Hilfiger line, it's going to appeal to more of the "trendy businesswoman" types...I recall seeing an amazing purple satin pencil skirt by him in a magazine. He's gotten more prominant lately, I think. But I think his clothes are all right, and some I adore, and some I don't...but I don't think he's all THAT bad...:)

oh that explains a lot, thanks

the Tommy Hilfiger I know if is the one from the 90s with the huge H logo everywhere (really :puke:)

I was never a fan of that so I never shopped there and have obviously never kept up with the changes

I guess it's good to hear he's finally doing something right

Some of his stuff that doesn't have a million logos all over it and the cheesy Red White & Blue motif isn't bad. It's generally a lot to preppy for me, but at least it isn't so pukeful as the stuff he was doing 10 years ago.

Sorry but I dislike Tommy Hilfiger's clothes. Im just not a fan of the preppy all-american look.

i enjoy alot of the tommy hilfiger clothes. i have quite a few sweaters and a couple jeans. :innocent:

I've got nothing against Tommy Hilfiger, I am not into preppy clothing, but if I were, I would probably go to his store.... :innocent:
