A new chapter in the design diaries of Scandinavian-raised, Paris-based Tobias Wistisen will open his SS12 men’s collection. With Another Magazine’s fashion director Alister Mackie styling the images set to relaunch his label, Wistisen is poised for one of the most important collections in his career. For Wistisen design is about identity, and each piece is personally handcrafted in Paris and remains completely unique to the next. SS12 works with the history behind hand-built bicycles from the 1940’s and hunting trophies from tribes in South America and Africa. The “rough but beautifully put together” finds in these hunters travels can be seen in the rope detail and sandblasted onyx on bracelets. Dusty skull emblems are set in rings and feature as tasseled pendants. Gauchos/Mexican Cowboys inspire the deluxe use of leather pieces and silver set into leather straps. Mixing metals and developing his love of braiding techniques, this collection is a perfect meld of wayward traveller and ambitious soul.
