I looked but didn't find a specific thread about brushes. If there is then definitely merge the two.

Anyways, my question is this... which round brush is better: a thermal brush, or a boar-bristle brush?

A girl working at Trade Secret said the thermal Cricket because it heats up and dries the hair faster, and doesn't snag the hair. But my stylist uses a boar-bristle brush from Olivia Garden and I looove how my hair looks afterward. What do ya think?

Do you think it's really worth it to spend more than...say, $20 on a brush? (Example: Frederic Fekkai's Classic Brush, $85)

I have thick, wavy, damaged hair. I definitely want to switch back over to using boar bristles, but I'm not sure if a more expensive one makes a big difference.

What kind/brand of brushes do you use? What's the most you would pay for one, and what hair type do you have?

^i also have fine hair, and i use a mason pearson pure boar-bristle brush. i find it is the gentlest on my hair, compared to synthetic brushes.

Thanks! I was looking at them lastnight and think I might get one. I just don't know if I want the pocket (5 rings), handy (6 rings) or medium size (7 rings).

Even though I have somewhat long, thick hair, the one that I use the most right now is a pocket size brush. I can also throw it in my purse very easily. So I'm pretty much leaning on the pocket size, I just don't know if I'm being dumb.

--Nevermind. I ordered the pocket size on eBay for $50 total. If it goes really well maybe I'll get the bigger size later.

Thanks :flower: Hope it comes soon..

i've never used a boar bristle brush before, but today i went out and got one.
i tried it as soon as i got home
i could feel a difference immediately

i have long hair (just past my chest)
my ends were softer, and not as dry
and my roots were less oily
so i'm quite happy

this is what i got, $15.99 CDN

Is that the one that Victoria Beckham uses?

I've heard good thinks about the Aveda paddle brush too... Havent tried one myself tho...

mason pearson has been the brush of choice for professional hairstylists all over the world for many years now...

that was one of the first things i learned when i got into this business...

;)

ack, I still refuse to pay that much money for that frederick fekkai hairbrush.

FF was my neighbor counter when I was at Dior, and I'd use the brush everyday, nothing fantastic or different. The lady that runs the counter doesn't see a difference either.

I do have a nice Aveda hair brush, and its amazing, oh god, I can feel it in my head right now its giving me a mini orgasm.

I need to go brush my hair
