Sienna, I definetily recommend Boys for Pele. I, too, consider it her best album. Little Earthquakes is also amazing, and then there's From the Choirgirl Hotel (with for example Spark, Jackie's Strenght, Playboy Mummy and Raspberry Swirl). Tales of a Librarian, a collection of her work which she released a couple years ago is also very good. I was quite disappointed with The Beekeeper, I am not sure whether she still makes as good music as she used to.
I am getting to her music once again. I am now very interested about what is behind her lyrics, what her lyrics mean. I just read an interesting article on her lyrics and Christianity/feminism/sexuality. She's a wonderful songwriter... I think she is one of my favourite artists of all time. She's got quite a cult following, and I am going to take a closer look at it.
Spark is a special song for me, as it was the first Tori Amos song I fell in love with.
Spark
She's addicted to nicotine patches
She's addicted to nicotine patches
She's afraid of the light in the dark
6:58 are you sure where my spark is
Here
Here
Here
She's convinced she could hold back a glacier
But she couldn't keep Baby alive
Doubting if there's a woman in there somewhere
Here
You say you don't want it again
And again but you don't really mean it
You say you don't want it
This circus we're in
But you don't you don't really mean it
You don't really mean it
if the Divine master plan is perfection
Maybe next I'll give Judas a try
Trusting my soul to the ice cream assassin
Here
You say you don't want it again
And again but you don't really mean it
You say you don't want it
This cirucs we're in
But you don't you don't really mean it
You don't really mean it
How may fates turn around in the overtime
Ballerinas that have fins that you'll never find
You thought that you were the bomb yeah
Well so did I
Say you don't want it
Say you don't want it
Say you don't want it again
And again but you don't really mean it
Say you don't want it
This circus we're in
But you don't you don't really mean it
You don't really mean it
She's addicted to nicotine patches
She's afraid of the light in the dark
6:58 are you sure where my spark is
