Tory Burch S/S 2024 New York

Benjamin Bruno should have taken the bow instead of her. Not because of the styling per se but it’s too much in your face how much the brand changed (for better or worse) since he’s been there.

That bag in the opening look looks a lot like something Karl Lagerfeld did for Chanel some years ago.

Surprising in many ways…
First of all, seeing the Chanel Millenium bag from the late 90’s on the runway. Then a real Couture feel with the quite well done Cardin dresses and then a real ambitious cut and some cool pieces and details.

‘I’m a bit lost because I enjoyed it for what it is but I wonder how is it relevant for this brand.
Brian Molloy styled it like he did in previous seasons and weirdly this time, it feels more in tune with another brand he is styling…The Row.
I really like this collection but will it even make it to production?

The millenium Bag introduced in 1998. I wonder if this one too can be used as a pillow…
I find it always hilarious when brands uses accessories from other brands as their own…Like when Chloe released the Versace 1992 men boots as the Savannah boots.

Not a bad collection but the very short dresses with elaborate draping, the bold accessories and the Miyake-flavored cocktail dresses all speak of a brand that has very little to do with what Tory Burch actually is… I do love that semi-sheer black coat with a flower pattern on it, the construction of the collar is a neat touch.

What a strange collection.

There's some The Row, Atlein, JW's Loewe, Raf does Prada and the classic NYFW reference staple, Philo's Céline, with a stronger Cardin twist. Collectively the references kind of make sense together, and the collection wouldn't look that out of place if presented in Paris by a smaller contemporary brand. But for Tory Burch???

It isn't bad by any means, I like a lot of it actually especially the interesting cuts on the sleeves and jackets. I just can't really imagine the Tory Burch customer in this space or dressing like this but then again I wouldn't really know who would buy the previous Tory Burch nowadays too.

And the glasses are very similar to Balenciaga's from the S/S 2007 collection.

You cant tell me torys team isnt watching YT. Just this past spring 23 a prominent fashion youtuber was showing off the lookbook for this exact bag that she also owned.

This is surprisingly good? Doesn't feel like Tory, which is what's confusing about it, even though it feels a little derivative. But still, actually some pieces I'd covet.

I think for NYFW we should only comment in the threads what European brands these collections make us think of. How can a city be so unoriginal?!!

The clothes are nice but it’s clearly a riff on Armani and Nina Ricci (when it was good).

The Chanel 2005 bag??? Burch, please!!

Hahaha the random beat drops and sudden drum'n' bass breaks in the middle of the show for no coherent reason are the funniest thing I've watched this season, it's almost like a parody of show presentation

(I liked it overall though, especially the shape of the short skirts, but admittedly I'm not clued up on the history of Tory Burch to know whether it's as ridiculous a sales proposition as people are making out).
