hi all...i have only 4 days and i want to get as much out of it as possible...what do you all consider to be cool or new or interesting...not looking for tourist attractions...i've already been to the tower of london and buckingham palace...

i'm interested in anything new going on and in the old stand by's for shopping and entertainment...all ideas welcome...thx :flower:

I've never been to London,I wish I could help you. I hope you have a great time!
How exciting for you. I hope you get some good tips from our fellow tFS crew.

Having not been yet,I can give some shopping addy's for where I am eager to visit when there,

Pineal Eye(of course!)-49 Broadwick St. Soho

Good place,if you're interested in learning some of those designers works that I have posted on here

B Store-6 Conduit Street.

Kokon To Zai- 57 Greek Street

This is designer Marjan Pejoski's multi-label shop

Concrete-35 A Marshall Street(just behind Oxford Circus and not far from Conduit, if I am not mistaken)

This is a PR company for the likes of Preen,Boudicca and others. Much of the stock are show samples of their clients, and are normally a huge % off what you would pay in most retail shops.

There was another I found out about that sells alot of up-and-coming Scandinavian talents but I forget the name

As for anything else,I'm sure Acid* will be a big help :flower:

ok.......
u wanna check out covent garden for sure there is a lot of shops to see (i garantee you will get lost however )

go to camden town on a saturday morning (its crazy punk/goth town)

as for clubs.......if you're staying in a good hotel, get the concierge to get you on the guest list for Aura (fridays), chinawhite (wednesdays)

go to Sketch for a meal in the GALLERY (not the library) you are garanteed to bump into a-list stars. (fridays)
definately try and eat at ZUMA or mr.chow anyday (best best food)

tourist things arent really my speciality, but go on the london eye (book in advance)

and if you're brave go on a bus tour

as u wont have enough time, this is my list

*Buckingham Palace
*TOPSHOP (oxford circus)
*Harvey Nics (Knightsbride) while you are there have a bite at YO SUSHI and check out their yummy biscuits in the food section (all top floor)
*Harrods of course , just to get a feel of what everyone always talks about  (Knightsbridge)
*OFFICE for their great sneaker collection and flats (Knightsbridge or South Motlon St)
*BROWNS and BROWNS FOCUS for being the most amazing fashion isntitution in LONDON.. still much better than any new shop that has opened. (South Molton St)

all of the above are to be done in a day...without any problems.

and as ACID said make sure to get a booking at ZUMA. their food is excellent... "black cod" is the best

THEATER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It blows anything in NYC into the gutter. They have the like of TKTS booth for same day discount tickets (crap, I fogot where, Londoners help me out).

I also recommend a visit to Michiko Koshino's (sp?) boutique, but I don't remember the adress

Oh, yeah, Harrod's food court to escape the infamous English food, hahaha, YUM!!!

Sherlock Holmes museum!!! Yea, I'm a freak... but you can walk to Selfridges from there. BTW, I think Selfridges was the best dept. store I visited as far as their selection goes. Honestly, I liked it better than Harvey Nick's - although the store itself is a bit simple.

Everything will be super expensive, because $ sucks majorly.

london is so great wherever you are i think. you should check out portobello road. a very sweet place. there is one shop where i got a beautiful dress from, its called "kinky". if you are outside of london you should visit greenwich. there are sweet music shops. very cute!

thanks for all the great suggestion so far everyone...
i've been to london twice b4 so i know about harrod's and topshop and office...etc...

what do people mean when they say 'the high street'...where are the major designer boutiques located?...are they near harvey nic's? ...are there any other stores along the lines of topshop?...i've not yet been to brown's, so i'm looking forward to that...

i'm staying with a friend but we may stay at the hempel for a night or two...any other suggestion for cool boutique hotels to check out..even if it's just for a drink...

boyfriend's an architect and i have to keep him amused as well...(so he doesn't notice all my shopping  ...he loves modern design...suggestions?....

anybody know if the portobello market is still any good and what days?...

Does anyone know who carries vanessa bruno>.... :flower:

my preferred DESIGNER street is SLOANE STREET.
BOND STREET is not bad either. they got a huge JIMMY CHOO STORE now :innocent:

sometimes the high street stores like WAREHOUSE, OASIS and RIVER ISLAND got some stuff.!!! (all on oxford street as well as on kings road)

also have a look at ADHOC if you dont know it yet. full of cute accessories. (kings road)

i guess PORTOBELLO is good on a saturday for the typical atmosphere.
make sure you visit all the small boutiques... but they are quite spread out ... i mean you would need to know their addresses instead of trying to find them

:flower:

oh how could i forget:
a favourite to the CELEBS!

JOSEPH on Brompton Cross... it does have a good own collection this season

oh darling...thx for the compliment, but i'm well over 30....

i need some grown-up things to do with my b-friend as he's a bit of a design snob...

my friend who i'm staying with works for a record label, so i'm hoping he will know some places with good music and also where to buy new music...i bought a ton of used vinyl at camden market last time i was there...great eighties stuff that was never released in the us...now with all the eighties revival stuff...i'm sure i won't find such good deals...

how's islington for shopping?...i have a greaet sweater i bought at a store around there years ago that i still get compliments on...is it worth a look?

thx again!! :flower:

try ECLIPSE on WALTON ST, just by brompton cross and off draycott ave.
its quite small but usually the atmosphere is nice and its a local hangout usually...
you go there after shopping for a drink or so B)
make sure you sit either at the end, under the window.
or in the room to the left... go all the way until you reach the window facing the street. its quieter over there

I would definitely book the London Eye. It's great fun. While you're there, take in the Tate Modern. If you want to the the very British tea thing, try Browns Hotel. It's very traditional. (Hey, what do you want, I'm the tealady! )

thank you thank you very good very good...excellent suggestions...the trip is starting to take shape in my mind...very goood...

is the 'eye' thing on the same side of the river as zandra rhodes' museum?...what else is on that side?...wasn't it supposed to be developing?...anything interesting over there?...

thx :flower:
