can someone please recommend clubs/restaurants/bars to go to in Milan.
and also the best nights to go.
obviously everyones told me about hollywood on monday nights cause they give foreign people free food and drink, and some friends mentioned zona brerra (sp)

i need ultra fashionista places

If you wanna go 'ultra fashionista' check out the Bar of Diana Majestic Hotel. You'll see the long curtains which separate the Bar area from the Lobby as you enter the Hotel. You don't have to ask anyone.. just walk into the place. It is the place to be during the fashion week.

And for dining, try the original 'Paper Moon' (you don't really have to reserve..casual place) which is on the street parallel to Via Monte Napoleone. Everyone knows the place. Or 'Da Peppino' (pricier..you have to reserve!)which is opposite to 'Armani Casa'. It is really hard to find a decent place to eat at the shopping district but those 2 are awesome in my opinion.

'Cova' on Via Montenapoleone is the most popular historic cafe in Milano. You gotta stop for an espresso. That place is literally OLD, but you can bump into an italian celebrity or a model anytime..

Restaurant section of 'Corso Como 10' is also a good option for lunch. It's pricey though, beware.. It's on Corso Como, no:10 There's an ultra-casual and cool pizzeria near that place which is called 'Fabbrica'. Hollywood (although I'm not a fan) is on Corso Como too. There's a casual bar called 'Iguana' on the same street. Which can be consiedered cool because of the famous Corso Como. Milano is a bit overrated nightlife-wise imo. But you won't get bored if you're there for a couple of days.

Agreed about 10 Corso Como. I stayed at Hotel Uno Toque so I've been to all of Derin's suggestions. The pizza I had at said pizzaria was great. There's a restaraunt called Light that's only a few blocks away that was pretty good, cool design, nice atmosphere.

Visiting Milan

I tried to do a search for Milan in just the title of the threads but most of the threads that turned up didn't have milan in the title at all?? I don't think I'm using the advanced search properly.

Anyway, I will be in Milan very briefly this Sunday (for most of the day) and want to make the best of it on a limited budget (thus will be walking around "site seeing"). Also need a place to eat. Is there anything cool, or neat, or whatever that I just shouldn't miss but is reasonable. I give up any chance of actually doing any of the more posh things there as I hear Milan is very expensive (coming from Canada everything in Europe seems expensive).

I would LOVE some suggestions. I would like to see the big architectural sights (Duome?), and then of course see some of the fashion district, and maybe nooks and crannies that aren't so easily found in a guide book but which are worth taking the time to see.

Bump. I will be in Milan for one day/night in the middle of May (on the way to Tuscany). Can someone please recommend a hotel, that is nice, and not too expensive ($200 tops)? What would you do in one day? (I think the only store to go to is 10 Corso Como). Is there a store that stocks CDiem, Poell, etc. - sort of equivalent of Atelier in NY or L'eclarabcdefg in Paris? I would be interested to see that. No more than two stores though - I'd like to see a litte of the city too, please .

While in Tuscany, I will most probably take a day trip to Florence - any info would be appreciated.

I feel a bit presumptuous giving restaurant recommendations in a city that is not my own.. but these are place that are imo really great.

Rigolo in the Brera district wont disappoint you. (Solferino 11 - corner of via Palermo) Delicious Northern Italian & Tuscan cuisine. Nice wine selection. Closed Fridays
It's not trendy, it's just really good food at reasonable prices.
As a testimony to it's quality is the huge amount of regulars the frequent the place. One of the times we ate there Italy was playing Germany in the world cup..all restaurants we passed were empty...not Rigolo.

Da Abele Via Temperenza 5. Tel. 02 261 3855. Closed Monday.
Located east of the central station close by the Pasteur metro stop.
Renowned for its risotto. The menu offers a bewildering array of risotto recipes. A very popular place that fills up fast, reservations are made on a same-day basis.

As for Hotels we stayed at two different.. (both 4 star hotels that you should be able to book at around 130-160 Euro for a double room if you book well ahead of your trip)

The first Star Hotel Anderson right by the train station was ideal as we were just in Milan for one day before taking a train and exploring the most popular areas of Milan wasn't a priority.
The hotel is new, sleek, modern and voted the best hotel in Milan in 2005 by TripAdvisor.

Upon our return we had 4 days in Milan where we stayed at Grand Hotel Verdi (also well reviewed by TripAdvisor), it's located on the outskirts of the Brera district..making Corso Como, Brera District and the city center easily reachable on foot.. location wise this was a very good hotel imo.
