could they put more type on this cover...

thanks for posting :flower:
i'm interested in the "secrets of personal style" article...

^

Hm, I love Drew and all, but why does she keep snagging covers? What has she done recently? *Goes to check IMDB*

Oooh, yah that's it. She got the Sept issue of Instyle. I always feel so sad when I see celebs on covers but on a Sept cover....:(

Drew dates a STROKE so she's cool just by association:)
i'm very intrigued by kate moss style secrets article !!! nd how dare they put kate's name next to jessica simpson?!!!jessica's style secret is " WEAR IT SHORT,WEAR IT TIGHt,KEEP UR BREASTS @ RIGHT HIGHT-THEN IT's RIGHT!"

That's not a cover - that's a 100-word essay atop an image of Drew Barrymore!

 Atrocious. I wish they could have taken at least 20% off and then they could have had more of the text in beige, like they did with one paragraph. Oh it's all so awful. Image ok, but really awful text

There's a need for a new take on cover lines...I'm sure there must be a better way. How about putting the contents on the back cover over an ad or something. They might as well remove the cover image, really, or just fade it so that the text stands out. This way it looks plain schizophrenic.

What is the point of taking a picture if they're just going to cover it with useless text. If you want to know what's in the magazine, go to the table of contents. Its not that hard, though with the way magazines are now there's alot of ad space before the contents. Maybe they should put the table of contents on the inside flap of the cover. Easy access and it allows for the cover to be relatively text free. New design solutions must be found for magazines. This current format is stale, unattractive and a turn off. It makes me not want to buy the magazine.

I assume there have been studies done on magazine headlines and their effect on sales. Anyone know anything about that?

My friend thinks she's sexy. I just don't see it. Cute, yes - sexy, no.

And that's a LOT of words for a cover.

While I couldn't give a link to one, I recall from articles I've read over the years that cover text is immensely important for attracting the 'average reader' and the more of it, the better for sales. So there goes any sense of aesthetic appeal for the more-than-average reader...

she's on uk elle cover as well...could magazines be any more original than that ?

Ugh. I believe I've heard this as well. Who are these average readers and how can we make them go away or at the very least take their cover text notions to something useless like Us Weekly? Bad enough that this mentality has seeped into publications like Elle but its become prevalent in Vogue even! I just hate it so much. These are probably the same average readers who want a celebrity on every cover.

^ I suppose it makes sense... so unappealing... (and for myself... I can't remember the last time I purchased off the newsstand...)

Very casual cover. Nice to see, but also no fun to see...
