US Elle September 2014 : Kristen Stewart by Michael Thompson

For the September issue, ELLE took over Fields Market in West Hills, California, turning aisles of organic produce, tuna cans, and soda into an everyday-glam backdrop for Kristen Stewart’s cover shoot. At once the ultimate tough girl and the vulnerable everygirl, Stewart has been bringing emotional, undeniable real characters to the big screen for more than a decade. She has millions of fans and a slew of new projects big and small, but the actress’s most impressive feat to date may be her ability to tune out all the noise and just be herself, no matter what.

So what is it like to be, well, Kristen Stewart? In her cover story, Stewart discusses if having a private life is even possible for someone like her, how the sudden fame brought on by the Twilight phenomenon shaped her and her public image, and what actually makes her want to “****ing hang out and chat all day” with strangers.

Here, a sneak peek at the story:

Stewart on letting her career evolve naturally:

“Never at any point have I sat down and plotted how I should proceed from here on. As soon as you start thinking about your career as a trajectory—like, as if you’re going to miss out on some wave or momentum—then you’re never doing anything for yourself anyway. Then you’re truly, actually, specifically working for the public. You’re turning yourself into a bag of chips.”

Stewart on not being able to please all the people, all the time:

“Now I feel like if I smiled for a paparazzi photo—not that I ever would—that’s exactly what people would be desecrating me for. They’d be like, ‘now you’re going to give it up, now you’re a sellout.’ like, okay. What do you want? What would you like?”

Stewart on when she realized how big Twilight would be:

“The day the movie came out there was a picture of me—in the New York Post, I think. I was sitting on my front porch, smoking a pipe with my ex-boyfriend and dog. And I was like, Oh ****, well, I have to be aware of that.”

Photographically this girl is so dead behind the eyes, so vacant and surly looking. I also couldn't care any less about what she has to say either, it's a mystery to me that we're still seeing her around now Twilight is done!

She looks so impassive on those pictures

worst working actress in Hollywood. and the interview looks to be more complaining!:hardhead: how is she still going on about the paparazzi enough is enough! i had higher hopes for September Elle!

I like her, I like Chanel...

I'd like some photoshop on her face, she looks too natural. :innocent:

I like the shoot and the styling, but it would have been so much better with someone else. She does not photograph well at all.

I don´t think she´s "worthy" of a September cover but well... I guess Chanel/Karl really pushed her on the editors...?

her 15 mins aren't over now that twilight is over? anyways she's always dead in the eyes, just blank stares with her.

What is her relevancy anymore? Irritable starlet from a poorly acted series? And how LAZY is the Elle team, they might as well shot have the story on Chanel's runway.

Looks cheap and amateur.

I'm not a fan, but she did have a film premiere at Cannes and was (is?) getting rave reviews for her performance in it. She probably has a history of selling well, too.

The styling is not even worth complaining about ... just horrible. Dozens of Chanel chain necklaces stacked together divert away from the actual focus of the image, which happens to be her dead frozen face. Is it actually a reference to her Twilight circa 2008 phase? I am pretty sure it's 2014 please put someone more relevant on the cover who actually came up with a new movie/show etc. It gets even more embarrassing when Elle's actual competitors do their best to choose the best talent to put on the cover with the most exquisite styling for September issue.

She must be promoting her new movie and being the face of Chanel... and I wouldnt mind seeing her on the cover of any other month but not September. Specially cause Bazaar has LG and a model and Vogue will probably have abig celeb on its cover

Cannot stand this no-talent, and wish she'd go away. Bad cover choice, Elle.
