US GQ October 2022 : Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez by Cruz Valdez

With this and Vogue USA's October 2022 cover,
one can assume that Conde Nast's theme this month is
"spontaneous".

Edgy.

How many unposed shots will we endure for the next few days?
I guess we're about to see.

She looks like Solange, and in my opinion she's more good looking than her sister Beyoncé. This has some retro vibe. Reminds me of the late 80's British Vogue covers.

I really cringe when politicians' talking points involve Roe v. Wade. She's part of a party (and presumably will run under it when she runs for President) that had the chance to codify the very essence of what Roe was. But look at where we are now. So before we talk about life post-Roe, let's first discuss how we all got here.

But I digress.

Nevertheless, I think she looks good. A better styling would've sufficed.

The 'we move' mentality of America, Mon. Lol.

I really like it. Looks vintage and still very fashion forward. She's very photogenic.

There's officially no difference between celebrities and politicians in America. I can't think of any other country where someone of AOC's position already appeared on multiple magazine covers. And she's not even a fashion icon. These magazines are trying to turn her into one. If I have to be brutally honest, wouldn't mind seeing the January 6 hero-hunk on a cover. Michael Fanone is just so easy on the eye!

It must sting on the other side considering the former first lady couldn't even get one exclusive cover of note.:rofl:

She looks great, she always does. That's a large part of why she is celebrity as much as she is a politician.

To me, this cover feels like it was designed to outrage the right more than it was to inspire the left. All publicity is good publicity for dying print. "AOC on masculinity and Post-Roe America" on the cover of a Men's magazine is potentially triggering for many, but I imagine that portion of GQ's readership already abandoned ship a while back.

I find this photographers work to be absolutely dreadful. Her use of contrast and color is so amateur to me.

This magazine is all over the place.
This literally looks like the vintage 1980s GQ with red masthead and white background I see on eBay all the time.
I love the vintage GQs but this somehow looks out of place.

I'm rather loving this! The cover is bold, graphic, so wonderfully 80s and the minimal art direction will no doubt help this standout on newsstand. It's indeed very Sade in terms of beauty styling and I love the power-dressing styling from Dara Allen here.

Wow I love Dara's work. She does a great team with EJG. And yes, this is so Sade, wish I said her name. Sad there's a political reason here, and I'm over tired of the reality.

I'm happy that the congresswoman got a magazine cover—that it's GQ though is strange. Wouldn't she fit best in Vanity Fair or maybe even Vogue?
Anyway, I'm warming up to the Art Cooper-era cover. If it wasn't for AOC, I would have thought this was a vintage issue. (Proof why Will Welch is terrible as the magazine's editor-in-chief: After almost three years at the helm, his vision of GQ still has no identifiable characteristic.)

I love it, very strong in an 80s sort of way. Its like they went for that power suit look literally.

Seriously, that’s one of their best cover. Striking…
I guess she enjoy dressing up and getting those covers. Thankfully for her, US society allows it to politicians.
